Turf Moor - Premier League

Liverpool travel to Burnley on New Year's Day, with Jurgen Klopp hopeful that his side can keep up their fine attacking form.

Past Meetings

The game at Anfield between these two sides earlier this season ended as a 1-1 draw, with both sides winning at home against the other in the 2016-17 campaign.

Burnley's 2-0 win at Turf Moor is the only time they have picked up three points in their last seven Premier League meetings with Liverpool.

Team News

Liverpool have a number of injury issues to deal with before their trip to Lancashire, with Klopp set to shuffle his pack during a busy run of games.

Striker Daniel Sturridge is a doubt as he is suffering with flu, and captain Jordan Henderson, Alberto Moreno, Nathaniel Clyne and Marko Grujic are all still sidelined through injury.

Burnley will welcome back defender James Tarkowski, as he completes a three match Premier League suspension, following an incident in their game against Brighton.

Fellow defender Stephen Ward should also be back from injury, but Robbie Brady, Chris Wood and Tom Heaton are all out of action until the new year.

Burnley v Liverpool Preview and Predictions

Burnley's recent home form has been good, winning three out of their last five Premier League games at Turf Moor - losing only to Arsenal and Tottenham in that run.

Liverpool have been far more convincing on the road in recent weeks, than they have been at Anfield, comfortably beating Stoke, Brighton and Bournemouth and picking up a point at Arsenal.

The attacking power of Liverpool is likely to be the key in this game, with Klopp's side scoring 15 goals in that particular run of games away from home and another away win should be achievable again - priced at 8/15.

However, despite Liverpool's fine goal scoring form, they will find Burnley a tough nut to crack, with Sean Dyche's side conceding just four goals in their last five games at Turf Moor.

Liverpool ma have to bide their time and wait for a breakthrough on New Years Day, with a scoreless first half priced at 2/1.

Recommended Bets

Liverpool to win 1-0 at 12/5

Klopp's men may have to be patient against Burnley, as Dyche's side have proven to be the surprise package of the Premier League so far this season. Liverpool should have enough to win it though and keep the fine away form going into 2018.

Mo Salah to score first at 7/2

Salah has been the big success story of Liverpool so far this season, leading their scoring charts with 15 Premier League goals so far. He also scored against Burnley earlier this season, and his ability to score vital goals will be important here.
