Stamford Bridge - Premier League

Chelsea host Leicester City on Saturday, looking to bounce back after a thrilling home draw to Arsenal in their last Premier League match. The Foxes started 2018 with a win, their first in six games in all competitions, which they will be looking to build on against the champions.

Past Meetings

Chelsea have been much had the better return from previous match-ups of these two sides. Earlier in the season, goals from Alvaro Morata and Ngolo Kante were enough to overcome Leicester, despite a penalty from Jamie Vardy piling on the pressure in the second half.

The Foxes will have to look back to their Premier League winning season in 2015/16 for their last win over the Blues, in a 2-1 win which, unsurprisingly, saw goals from Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.

Team News

Antonio Conte has Eden Hazard back following a minor injury, whilst Ross Barkley is still being assessed having arrived from Everton without having played a game this season.

Robert Huth will be back in contention for Leicester having spent an extended spell on the sidelines, as will Jamie Vardy, who sat out the FA Cup fixture against former side Fleetwood at the weekend. Claude Puel's only absentee will be Danny Simpson, who suffered a hamstring injury over the festive period.

Chelsea v Leicester Predictions and Previews

Over the last few weeks Anotonio Conte future and his spat with Jose Mourinho has been focused on by the media. However, in the background his Chelsea side have quietly gone on a decent run of form with only one loss in all competitions since the beginning of November.

The players seem to have got used to the new 3-5-1-1 formation, and the introduction of Andreas Christiansen appears to have had a calming effect on the defence. However, the form of 55 million pound man Alvaro Morata must be a worry to the manager, with the Spaniard looking utterly devoid of confidence after missing a number of easy chances in recent weeks. With the new formation lacking in attacking options, Conte needs his striker to be scoring as freely as he did in the beginning of the season, when his odds were lower that 8/15 to score anytime as they are this week.

Claude Puel has had no such striker problems, with Vardy scoring in three of his last four games, and 9/1 to score first against Chelsea. Leicester's problem has been at the other end of the pitch, having been outscored by the likes of Watford, Crystal Palace and Liverpool in December. Against Huddersfield, in the last round, this problem looks to have been solved, although they face a very different threat at Stamford Bridge.

Recommended Bets

Eden Hazard to score two or more at 11/2

The Belgian ace broke a dry spell against Arsenal and will have benefitted from a week off, much to Leicester's concern.

Both teams to score and Chelsea to win at 15/8

Leicester's attack has been strong this season but Chelsea should have too much in their locker for the Foxes on the day.
