Manchester City v Watford Preview and Prediction

The Manchester City juggernaut steamed on through the festive period, brushing teams aside like they have done in the first half of the season. 15 points clear by the turn of the year, many have already conceded that City have the league in their pockets.

Guardiola will be keep to avoid standards slipping, and can match the Arsenal 'Invincibles' unbeaten season if his side keeps up their incredible play. Against Watford, the manager may be tempted to rest some of his more senior players, but, given the Citizen's squad depth, this is unlikely to impact the standard of play.

Having played extremely well in the first few months, Watford's form has dramatically slipped recently. With just four points from a possible 21 in December, fans will be wondering what happened to the side that was briefly in the top four earlier this season.

It doesn't help that the goals have dried up for forward players, with the formerly prolific Richarlison on a barren spell stretching back to November, and just 3/1 to score anytime. There was turbulence around the club back in November , with the manager's future cast into doubt, which also may have impacted on Watford's form.

If the side are to get anything from the Etihad, they will have to cast any doubt about recent for from their minds, and dig in for an offensive onslaught.
