Wembley Stadium - Premier League

Everton head to Wembley to face Tottenham in Saturday’s evening kickoff, with the Toffees looking to end their winless run. In light of Harry Kane’s recent comments about the importance of success, Spurs need a win to keep pace with the top four.

Past Meetings

Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 10 games against Everton, winning five of those. Two from Kane and a Christian Eriksen strike handed Spurs a 3-0 win at Goodison Park earlier in the campaign, while there were three late goals in this fixture last season as Spurs emerged 3-2 winners.

Team News

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will be without Danny Rose for a third game as the left-back deals with a reaction in his knee after surgery last year. Toby Alderweireld is a long term absentee, although Harry Winks could be fit after an ankle injury.

Ross Barkley won’t make his return from injury in Everton colours after signing for Chelsea, although centre-back Michael Keane has a chance of being fit. Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines are both still out, two players who Sam Allardyce would’ve loved to have called on for this game.

Tottenham v Everton Preview and Predictions

This will be a tough one for the visitors, as Everton look to avoid going six games without a win. In fairness though, a point would be a positive result for the Toffees, as Tottenham are capable of beating anyone on their day.

Despite a pair of stunning long range strikes illuminating the game, Spurs were held to a disappointing draw at home to West Ham in their last Premier League fixture. A brace from Kane got them back to winning ways against Wimbledon in the FA Cup, but there’s a three point gap to fourth placed Liverpool in the league which Tottenham cannot allow to grow.

Everton’s charge up the table has been halted in recent weeks, as Allardyce’s instant impact begins to wear off. After the disappointment of going out of the FA Cup at the hands of local rivals Liverpool, taking something back to Merseyside from Wembley would be a great response for the Toffees.

Tottenham start the game as favourites with the bookmakers, priced at 3/10. Everton are 13/1 for the upset, while if you think the game will end in a draw it’s 11/2. In-form Kane is 4/7 to score anytime, and 23/10 to break the deadlock.

Recommended Bets

Kane to score in Tottenham win at 21/10

The English striker has four in his last two games against the Toffees, and he’s in superb goalscoring form at the moment.

1-1 draw at 12/1

Before Tottenham’s last two wins, there was a pair of 1-1 draws between the teams, making this a fair price for a repeat. Add Wayne Rooney in as the first scorer and the odds increase to 55/1.
