Vicarage Road - Premier League

After recovering from their poor start to the season, Arsenal go in search of another positive result against Watford at Vicarage Road. The hosts are only a point behind the Gunners though, so they’ll overtake their more illustrious rivals with a win.

Past Meetings

Watford recorded an impressive 2-1 victory at the Emirates in the last meeting between the teams, thanks to early strikes from Younes Kaboul and Troy Deeney. Arsenal won the corresponding fixture 3-1, and scored seven unanswered goals against the Hornets in the Premier League the season before. The Gunners have won on their last four trips to Vicarage Road.

Team News

Goalscorer last time out Kaboul could return for Watford after undergoing treatment for a hamstring injury during the international break. Nathaniel Chalobah’s set for a spell on the sidelines after knee surgery though, while Craig Cathcart and Mauro Zarate continue to recover from knee problems of their own.

After suffering what appears to be a long term thigh injury playing for Germany, Shkodran Mustafi misses out for the visitors. Mesut Ozil was left out of the German squad to work on his fitness, and is expected to feature. Laurent Koscielny should also return to the side in a boost for Arsene Wenger’s backline.

Watford v Arsenal Preview and Predictions

Watford have started the season well and should pose a threat to Arsenal, who are looking to continue a good run of their own. If Marco Silva gets his side playing to the best of their ability, we could be in store for a cracking game in Saturday’s evening kick off.

The Hornets currently lie in eighth place in the Premier League, and are just a couple of points off the Champions League spots at this early stage. There’s been a couple of bumps along the way - most notably a 6-0 mauling at home against Manchester City - but there’s lots of hope around Watford after the indifferent days of Walter Mazzarri. The hosts start this game as underdogs though, priced at 9/2 in the betting.

After winning six of their last seven games and only dropping points in a draw at Stamford Bridge, there’s plenty of optimism at Arsenal once more. Alexis Sanchez seems to be working his way back to full fitness, and if he knuckles down then the Gunners are a whole new proposition. They start this one as favourites at 4/6, while the draw’s available at 7/2.

Recommended Bets

Sanchez to score in Arsenal win at 13/8

Back the talented Chilean to put the disappointment of missing out on next summer’s World Cup behind him, as the forward bags his first Premier League goal of the season.

Watford to win and over 2.5 goals at 13/2

It’d be the fifth time in a row that the goals part of this bet would’ve paid out if it comes in, but the Hornets would reverse their fortunes to pick up the three points.
