Vicarage Road - Premier League

Liverpool travel to Watford to kick of their Premier League campaign this season, with Jurgen Klopp's side hoping to build on a positive 2016-17.

Past Meetings

Liverpool have the upper hand in their recent meetings with the Hornets, winning their last three games against Marco Silva's side, including a 6-1 win in November 2016. Watford's last win against the Reds came back in December 2015, courtesy of a 3-0 victory.

Team News

Liverpool have a number of injury concerns ahead of their first game of the 2017-18 campaign, with Adam Lallana out for two months with a thigh injury.

The England international was ruled out last week, after suffering the injury during their pre-season games.

Fellow England colleague Jordan Henderson has been eased back into action during the summer after missing the end of last season with a succession of injuries, Klopp is likely to leave it to the last minute to decide on his fitness.

There are also injury doubts over Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge, with back and thigh problems respectively, and again a late decision will be made on both players before Saturday's game.

Defender Nathaniel Clyne is already ruled out with a hamstring injury, and Adam Bogdan and Danny Ings are both some way from a return following serious knee injuries.

Watford are waiting on late fitness tests for two players before Silva selects his side for the visit of Liverpool.

Defenders Christian Kabasele and Craig Cathcart are struggling with hamstring and knee injuries, and may not be fit in time for Saturday's game.

Capttain Troy Deeney is out until the end of the month with a groin problem, and Mauro Zarate could miss out of the season with knee ligament damage.

Watford v Liverpool Preview and Predictions

Watford have had an indifferent pre-season campaign, ending it with successive goal less draws against Aston Villa and Real Sociedad.

Liverpool have enjoyed far more success, beating Leicester City, Bayern Munich and Athletic Bilbao during the summer months.

The Reds look to be in a strong position to do well this season, and an opening day win should be relatively straightforward, priced at 4/7.

Even with the injury concerns currently within the squad they should have enough goal threat to really trouble Watford, and an over 2.5 goals bet, priced at 8/11, looks a good option.
