Bodog eSports Review

bodog logoLaunched prior to the year 2000, Bodog is one of the oldest online bookmakers on the Internet. Today, they offer traditional betting, eSports, Poker, casino games, horse racing wagering and a live dealer casino all on a single, easy-to-use platform. As a traditional bookmaker online, they offer a fantastic product with great lines, deep markets and cryptocurrency deposits. For electronic sports enthusiasts, their LoL markets cannot be beaten, although they could have more options for other games.

Bonuses

Like many eSports betting sites, Bodog is a bookmaker, a casino and a live dealer casino all rolled into one. Instead of splitting up their bonuses for each section, they offer a single bonus for all members with different rollover requirements depending on which platform you visit. For sports, the welcome bonus comes in the form of a 100% cash match bonus, up to a maximum of £200. This is not bad, considering the rollover is just 6x. For interest sake, the casino rollover is 40x on all games. Bodog also offers a comprehensive selection of promotions, however few relate to eSports.

Betting Odds

Bodog has always been known as one of the few UK brands with competitive odds. In some cases this does translate through to their electronic sports section, but not always. For games like League of Legends and Counterstrike, they do have really decent odds, but with other games like Rainbow Six or Heroes of the Storm, you may be better off finding a dedicated eSports betting site instead.

Customer Service

The customer service at Bodog is fast, efficient and available 24 hours a day. For some reason though they do not have a live chat facility, and all queries are handled via email, or through their call centre. To their credit, they do manage to respond to emails in a timely manner. The site also has a dedicated help page with FAQ’s for quick information.

User-Friendliness

Bodog has chosen not to follow the standard setup found at bookmakers online in the UK. Instead of listing sports down the left-hand side, they list the most poplar events in a bar at the top, with a separate button to display the full list. This creates a less cluttered page with a slightly easier interface for quick bets on the most popular options. Unfortunately to get to the eSports section, you do need to go through several navigation processes to find the markets and events you want.

Games Covered

Bodog is not an electronic betting site, it is an online bookmaker focused on traditional sports that happens to offer eSports too. That being said, their range of games is fairly decent, you can find plenty of LoL action as well as CS:GO, Rainbow Six, Starcraft II, Dota 2, Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm. There isn’t much else though, unless a major tournament is happening.

Events and Tournaments

If you are big fan of League of Legends, then Bodog is the place to bet. This is their prime focus, with just about every league and tournament game on offer. Counterstrike also has decent range of events but with the others, only the biggest tournaments are covered.

In-Play eSports Betting

Bodog does offer in-play betting on all their electronic sports. You can select live games or upcoming games by switching the tabs in the centre of the screen.

Payment Methods

It is difficult to rate Bodog’s payment methods since they are one of the few online bookmakers to offer cryptocurrency banking. This is super handy if you deal in Bitcoin. However, besides Visa and MasterCard, there is a lack of alternate payment methods, and for some reason the exclusion of major web-wallet facilities.

Security

Bodog is a fully licenced bookmaker online and is regulated by the UK Gambling Commission. They run the latest SSL security for their desktop and mobile platform.

Betting Limits

Bodog has different limits for each sport and game. They do however restrict punters to £100 wagering limits on in-play wagers, which is quite low indeed. The standard limit on most wagers is set at £500.

Conclusion

Bodog is a solid brand with a decent eSports betting section, reasonable odds and a simple interface. They are ideal for anyone just starting out, however if you want more in-depth coverage, you might have to look elsewhere. Their highlights include great LoL markets, Bitcoin Banking and a user-friendly site.
