2018 League of Legends eSports World Championship Schedule

We are just days away from the 2018 League of Legends eSports World Championship. Hosted by South Korea, the action will be kicking off on the 1st of October with the Play-in stage in based in Seoul. The tournament will then hit the road and tour some of South Korea’s most prominent cities, giving fans a chance to catch the action live. Those interested in eSports betting will have plenty of opportunity to get in on the action too, as this Championship is covered extensively by leading online sportsbooks, and there are plenty of available markets.

As per usual, the League of Legends World Championships will start with the Play-in Stage in which 12 teams compete in a double round robin with all matches using a best of one format. The 12 Play-in teams are drawn into 4 Groups of 3 teams each. The top 2 teams at the end of the Play-In stage then advance to the knockouts and a chance to compete in the main event.

Play-in Group Schedule

Being a double round-robin League of Legends eSports event, each team will face off against their group rivals twice making up a total of four matches each. If you are interested in catching the action, the Play-in stage will get started at 10am local time on October 1st. The match Schedule is as follows:

The 8 teams that make it through to the League of Legends World Championships Play-in Knockout round will compete in a Best of 5 event with all the first-place teams taking on the 2nd place teams starting on Saturday the 6th of October local time. Since each of the teams plays 5 rounds, the first match gets underway at 6am and the second at 10am. This is repeated for the second day.

The 4 top LoL eSports Play-in teams that move through to the Group Stage will start their campaign for glory on the 11th of October. The Group stage will also be a double round robin event with each of the 12 teams playing their group opponent twice. Highlights of Day 1 include:

The Knockout Stage

The League of Legends World Championships Knockout Stage will kick off on Sunday October 20th. The quarterfinals will be held over two days with each team playing best of 5. There will be 2 matchups on the Sunday and 2 on the Monday.

The Semi-finals will also be held over two days and will start on the 27th of October. Playing a best of 5 the 4 top teams will play their matches at 10am on the Saturday and the Sunday respectively.

The League of Legends eSports Championship Final and the biggest event of the season will kick off with an opening ceremony starting at 9:30am local time. Half an hour later, the action will begin with the two top qualifying teams battling it out for the chance to lift the Summoner’s Cup. The teams will play a best of 5 with the winner crowned World Champions and the ultimate LoL eSports bragging rights.
