Arsenal plan second bid for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell
January 30, 2016
It has been reported that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is planning a second bid for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.
Arsenal had a bid of £3.5 million rejected for the left-back in the summer and Wenger is ready to return with an improved bid this transfer window.
The Leicester City defender has gained a lot of interest from a number of Premier League clubs and impressed for the Foxes during his first game for the club against Tottenham earlier this month.
Chilwel is expected to replace Kieran Gibbs at Arsenal who is looking for a move away from the North London club due to the lack of first-team football and could be sold in the summer.
Claudio Ranieri has insisted that the defender is not for sale, however the Telegraph have reported that there have been a few top-level meetings between the two clubs regarding the move.
Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have all shown interest in the player, however Wenger is keen to avoid a bidding war and will push for a move this month.
There are less than 18 months remaining on Chilwell’s current contract and is in talks with Leicester over a new contract.
