Chelsea prepare to make big money offer for Atletico manager Simeone
February 03, 2016
Chelsea are looking for a long term replacement for Guus Hiddink and it appears that Roman Abramovich is seeking the service of Argentine manager Diego Simeone.
The likes of Pep Guardiola, Jorge Sampaoli and Antonio Conte have also been reported to be linked with the London club but Abramovich is keen to acquire the services of Atletico manager Simeone this summer.
According to Don Balon, the Russian owner will offer around £7.65m-a-year to the Atletico Madrid manager for his services.
Simeone is undoubtedly one of the greatest managers in world at the moment and would be a fantastic addition to the Premier League.
The Argentine steered Atletico to the La Liga title in 2013 after winning the Europa League with them in 2011.
Simeone also took Atletico Madrid to the Champions League final in 2013 where they were beaten by rivals, Real Madrid.
Atletico’s journey from a struggling side to title contenders every year on such a small budget has been a fantastic achievement.
After a terrible title defence this season, Chelsea will be keen to bounce back next season and Abramovich believes that Diego Simeone is the ideal manager to get the club back to the top.
Chelsea currently sit 14th in the Premier League and have won just 6 games so far this season.
Simeone has always shown passion for Atletico Madrid and his desire to build a legacy there. However, if Chelsea approach him with a big money offer and the promise of a good budget it would be difficult to turn them down.
