Which Footballers have the Best Cars?

December 28, 2017

- Grant Whittington

If you earned more than £250,000 per week (or around £140,000 after tax) what on earth would you spend it on? This is a conundrum that the world’s leading footballers face throughout the career, with lucrative contracts enabling them to earn more than they could ever realistically spend in one lifetime.

To help overcome this challenge, most players take the creative step of building up a fleet of luxury sports cars. We presume that the majority of these never get driven at all, or alternatively we can only imagine the joy of using a Ferrari 458 Spider as a ‘run-around’!

In this post, we’ll look at which footballers have the best cars, as we delve into the madness that surrounds top-flight players in the modern age!

1. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Customised Bugatti Chiron

We start with Cristiano Ronaldo, whose annual base salary of £20 million has enabled him to build an impressive fleet of cars – including an Aston Martin DB9, a Lamborghini and a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

He’s also owned a coveted Bugatti for as long as we can remember, but he recently added a very special second to his incredible collection!

That’s right, Ronaldo recently splashed out around £2.15 million on a customised Bugatti Chiron, which is one of the rarest and most exclusive cars anywhere in the world. This means that he now owns two Bugatti models, with the first costing him £1.7 million already!

His recent purchase represents his most spectacular splurge to date, but having test driven the Chiron earlier this year he reportedly couldn’t resist splashing his cash on the vehicle (with a few modifications thrown in for good measure).

Given the earning power of CR7 and the fact that he has netted 47 career hat-tricks to date, who’d bet against him adding a third Bugatti before his playing career is over?

2. Mario Balotelli and his Ferrari Spiders

If you get a snap of Balotelli off the field, the chances are he’ll be standing by an expensive sports car. While many of us capture shots like this when we’re visiting an exhibition or dealership, the controversial Italian striker is usually standing in his own garage (or should that be car park?)

Balotelli has built a formidable selection of cars down the years, with models including a Lamborghini Gallardo and a Bentley Continental GT all showcased in recent times.

For now, two Ferrari 458 Spiders remain the pride of the striker’s collection. It seems that Balotelli was not content with the one, striking red 458 Spider that he owned, so he dipped into his piggy bank to buy a beautiful white model to sit alongside it.

If you’re able to rotate two Ferrari 458 Spiders, you know that you’ve made it in life. Balotelli certainly has, and his recent career struggles have not prevented him from accumulating a collection of cars that belong in the top tier.

3. Neymar’s Maserati MC12

The brilliant Brazilian is the heir-apparent to Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the world’s best player, so it’s only fitting that he has an impressive collection of luxury cars to match his rivals.

Interestingly, Neymar’s fleet also includes the popular Ferrari 458 Spider, while his total collection is said to be worth at least £1.2 million.

The jewel in the Brazilian’s crown is his limited-edition Maserati MC12, an exclusive, two-seater sports car of which only 50 were produced between 2004 and 2005. Neymar purchased this stunning sports car for the princely sum of around £770,000 and it quickly took pride of place in his packed garage.

Following his record-breaking move to PSG, Neymar’s collection is sure to growth further in the years ahead, while it’s fair to say that his sporty fleet reflects the fact that the Brazilian likes to enjoy his downtime away from the field of play!

So, there’s a shortlist of our favourite footballers’ cars in the current market. Which is your favourite though? Feel free to let us know on Twitter @bethutUK or let us know if you think that we’ve missed someone out!
