Ronaldo Offers a Glimpse into his Family Life
May 24, 2018
When it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo, it’s hard to imagine him anywhere other than the field of play.
This is especially true in the build-up to the Champions League final this weekend, as the Portuguese striker looks to propel Real Madrid to a third consecutive European Cup win and their 13th overall.
However, Ronaldo, who turned 33 earlier this year, is also a devoted family man, and he took to Instagram recently to share an insight into a typical morning in the CR7 household. Full of proud smiles and wide-eyed stares, Cristiano’s spontaneous selfie warmed the hearts of his followers who delighted in seeing another side to the world’s most prolific striker.
A family man: the other side of CR7
In fact, the Portuguese forward delighted his 126 million followers with the picture, as he captured an impromptu image of his beautiful girlfriend Georgia Rodriguez and three of his four young children.
Accompanied by the simple message “Good Morning”, the Ronaldo family seemed bright-eyed and bushy tailed as the man himself spent some precious time with his loved ones ahead of the UCL final against Liverpool on Saturday.
Los Blancos’ fans will be particularly pleased to see Ronaldo happy and relaxed ahead of the European seasons’ showpiece finale, which will take place in Kiev and threatens to provide a stunning contest between an irresistible force and the immovable object.
CR7 vs. Mohamed Salah for the Ballon d’Or?
While fans may have revelled in seeing Ronaldo’s children and enjoying a glimpse into his private life, many will also retain concerns over his fitness ahead of the final.
After all, he suffered an ankle injury during a 2-2 draw during Barcelona in the latest El Clásico, only returning last weekend as he scored Madrid’s second in a tie with Villarreal. Still, Los Blancos’ manager Zinedine Zidane assured the press that he was “120% fit” during a recent press conference, so he’s certain to lead the line for Madrid against Klopp’s Reds at the Olimpiyskiy National Stadium.
This is scarcely good news for Liverpool, particularly given that Ronaldo is this season’s Champions League top scorer with an impressive 15 goals in 12 appearances. He’s also the tournament’s top scorer of all-time with 121 goals in 158 matches, while his tally of 450 strikes in just 437 games for Madrid would be truly remarkable in any era.
With this in mind, there’s little doubt that a fit, focused and fresh Ronaldo will play a pivotal role in Saturday’s showpiece.
The final will also see Ronaldo come face to face with Liverpool’s own star forward Mohamed Salah, who has himself scored 11 goals in 14 UCL games this year and 44 in 51 appearances overall. The Egyptian forward has lit up Anfield this season while emerging as the talisman for Klopp’s side, and his personal battle for supremacy with CRL could make for a fascinating watch.
With these two stars and Barcelona’s diminutive Argentine Lionel Messi also set to star at this summer’s World Cup, it’s likely that one of these three stars will win the 2019 Ballon d’Or.
Winning the European Cup will certainly give either Ronaldo or Salah a competitive edge in this three-horse race, so the question that remains is who will prevail?
