Leading UK pool betting operator group the UK Tote Group has announced having appointed experienced betting and gambling director and expert John Williamson to the position of Non-Executive Chairman. Williamson will officially assume his new role on 1 September 2020, the group has confirmed via a recent press announcement.

Extensively experienced especially in Asian markets, the addition of Williamson’s specialised expertise is according to the group, expected to contribute significant expertise to the organisation’s existing structure – expertise the group says it expects to apply in terms of international experience in commerce, as well as from a financial leadership point of view.

Experience As Well As Calibre

Aside from the vast amount of experience brought to the table by Williamson, UK Tote Group CEO Alex Frost also made specific mention of the new chairman’s calibre – a calibre Frost says he regards to be perfectly capable of providing on-time support to the group’s plans in terms of ongoing future growth following the acquisition of the Tote.

Williamson’s reputation and track-record pertaining to the firm-handed guiding of international brands and organisations, said Frost, not to mention even his having spent more than 10 years on the board of HKEX (Asia’s number one stock exchange), are perfect fits in terms of what the new chairman can be expected to bring to the UK Tote Group’s own table vs. that which is currently required.

Frost furthermore said that Williamson’s vast experience gained from his having worked in multi-stakeholder organisations – and especially those organisations governed by complex inner structures – will prove of immeasurable value not only to the group itself, but also to British racing in terms of the wider industry.

Asia Sealed The Deal

Williamson’s extensive Asia experience did in fact according to the group CEO play a deciding role in his (John Williamson’s) appointment as non-executive chairman of the UK’s leading pool betting operator group. Not to mention even the fact that Williamson’s Asia experience will act as a massive support to the group’s plans of expanding its own partnerships by embarking on future collaborations with external global pool betting organisations.

The UK Tote Group is thrilled and delighted beyond measure to have a person of Williamson’s expertise and experience joining its own team, concluded Frost. The entire team is according to the group CEO very much looking forward to working alongside their new chairman.

Williamson Says Re Appointment

He himself an eager and keen racegoer, Williamson said he’s for the longest time been a firm admirer of the fantastic work done by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, which club famously runs two world-class racecourses – not to mention even heading up the operations of the world’s largest sports betting provider.

A Chartered Accountant by profession, Williamson said he enjoys a dual interest in and passion for racing and for commerce (business). These attributes and interests, coupled with his ability to provide international perspective, Williamson said he hoped would ultimately become something of a significant and irreplaceable value to the famous pool betting group.

He concluded by saying that he too, was very eagerly looking forward to working alongside the Tote team as they continue to work relentlessly and tenaciously towards the goal of reaching their commercial growth goals and ambitions.

Previous Roles Occupied

Williamson in 2008 joined the board of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, or HKEX. He initially joined in the capacity of Independent Non-Executive Director, and now serves as Chairman of the Board Risk Committee as well as in the capacity of member of the Board Executive, Audit, Corporate Social Responsibility, Renumeration and Statutory Risk Management Committees.

Williamson previously served the private investment company of Robert W.
