Will Kante Be At The King Power Stadium Next Season?
July 15, 2016
Claudio Ranieri must be a concerned man at the moment, even though star striker Jamie Vardy as committed his future to the Foxes. After all, Riyad Mahrez is sure to be the subject of intense transfer speculation now the Euros are over, while players such as Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Drinkwater may also be coveted by Premier League clubs.
Then there is N’Golo Kante, who remains the tireless midfield dynamo who drove the Foxes to the most unlikely of title triumphs. He had a decent summer with France and has refused to comment definitively on his future while he is courting the attention of Real Madrid, Paris St. Germain and Manchester City.
Why Kante May Well Be Madrid Bound
Kante’s silence is fooling nobody, however, as the Frenchman remains the most likely player to leave Leicester’s title winning side. There are rumours that the club have already resigned themselves to losing the midfielder, with Madrid poised to meet Kante’s release clause of 25.5 million Euros imminently. Los Blancos’ manager Zinedine Zidane is keen on pairing Kante with Paul Pogba in the Madrid midfielder, who he also hopes to sign from Juventus for a world record fee.
Pogba certainly seems to be on his way somewhere, with Juve having signed £25 million Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanić as his replacement. Whether this is the Bernabeu has yet to be seen of course, but the smart money is on Kante making his Madrid dream a reality before the end of the summer transfer window. Paris St. Germain may yet make a rival bid that attracts Kante, but as the champions of Europe Madrid can offer him everything that he could have dreamed of as a youngster growing up in France.
Could Leicester Recover From The Loss Of Kante?
Occasionally, transfer rumours emerge that defy the basics of logic and understanding. This is a rumour that makes perfect sense, however, with Kante in demand and capable of bringing a new dimension to Madrid’s talented by slightly one-paced midfield.
The lure of Madrid and the qualities that Kante brings mean that this deal will happen sooner rather than later, regardless of the offer that Leicester make to keep the Frenchman. You sense that the Foxes are acutely aware of this, and the question that remains is how Leicester would replace such a dynamic presence in their side?
