Arsenal v Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
September 19, 2018
Emirates Stadium - Premier League
An in-form Arsenal welcome Everton to the Emirates on Sunday afternoon, with the visitors far from the top of their game. The Gunners are looking for their fourth win in a row after losing their first two matches, while the Toffees usually come unstuck in north London.
Arsenal beat Everton 5-2 at Goodison Park last season, before recording a 5-1 victory back at the Emirates. The Gunners have won six of the last seven meetings between the sides, with Everton boasting just two victories in their last 23 attempts against Arsenal.
Aaron Ramsey is a slight doubt for the hosts, although it appears that’s more because of fatigue than an injury. Unai Emery is without four defenders for this game, as Sead Kolasinac, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Carl Jenkinson and Laurent Koscielny are all out.
The visitors have their own problems at the back, with Michael Keane, Phil Jagielka, Yerry Mina and Seamus Coleman all expected to miss the trip to London. Andre Gomes and James McCarthy are also on the treatment table and have been ruled out.
Arsenal v Everton Preview and Predictions
As well as their strong form over the last few games, Arsenal will also take encouragement from their strong record against their visitors on Sunday. Everton head to the Emirates looking for their first away win against the Gunners in over 20 years, a run that stretches back some 24 matches to 1996.
Arsenal haven’t exactly been overwhelmingly good in winning their last three fixtures, only seeing off Newcastle and Cardiff by one-goal margins. There’s certainly encouragement though after a difficult start under their new manager, and the Gunners are the 1/2 favourites to make it four successive wins here.
Everton, meanwhile, are having a difficult start of their own under their new boss. The Toffees have managed just one win in five Premier League games under Marco Silva. They’ve only actually lost once, but the manner of that defeat against West Ham last weekend was far from encouraging.
The away side are out at 31/5 for the win on Sunday, which would some way for them to answer their critics. Having said that, a draw would be no bad thing for Everton, and could be the best they can hope for given their recent history at Arsenal - it’s priced at 4/1.
Both teams to score at 4/6
Neither of these teams have managed to keep a clean sheet so far this season, so both teams to score looks like easy money here.
Arsenal to win and BTTS at 7/4
The Gunners are the favourites and have a superb record against the Merseysiders at home, so this looks a good way to improve the value on a home win.
