Arsenal v Leicester City Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
October 18, 2018
Emirates Stadium - Premier League
Arsenal host Leicester City at the Emirates on Monday night, as the Gunners go in search of their 10th successive win in all competitions. The visitors have been inconsistent so far this season, but there’s nothing inconsistent about their form in this fixture.
Leicester beat Arsenal 3-1 at the King Power last season, but that was their first victory over the Gunners since 1994. Arsenal have won each of their last 11 home games against the Foxes, who last beat the Gunners on their own turf all the way back in 1973.
Although his team’s scoring goals, Unai Emery has problems at the back. Laurent Koscielny and Konstantinos Mavropanos are both definitely out injured, while Sokratis Papastathopoulos could miss the game too. Petr Cech is sidelined, so Bernd Leno will continue between the sticks.
Demarai Gray is a doubt for the visitors, which would be a blow to Claude Puel’s counter-attacking plans. The Foxes boss is also without influential defender Wes Morgan due to suspension, while Matthew James is recovering surgery and misses out.
Arsenal v Leicester City Preview and Predictions
If the stats and recent form is anything to go by, we can fully expect Arsenal to beat Leicester on Monday. Stats and form don’t win football matches though, and the Foxes will hope to build on some encouraging performances so far this season.
Arsenal took Fulham apart in their last game before the international break, putting five super goals past their hosts including two apiece for Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The duo are clearly enjoying playing with each other, and that could spell trouble for Leicester here.
The hosts are 8/15 to make it 10 victories on the bounce, and even if they’ve played minnows like Qarabag and Brentford and Vorskla in that run, it’s still an impressive sequence. Leicester meanwhile are priced at 23/4 to get their first victory at Arsenal in 45 years.
The Foxes lost their most recent game at home to Everton, which was a disappointing result after three successive wins including a penalty shootout victory over Wolves in the League Cup. Puel would surely be delighted if his team can take a point from the Emirates, and the draw is priced at 18/5 in this game.
Arsenal to win and both teams to score at 7/4
Arsenal and Leicester smashed in 11 goals between them in their two meetings last season, but the hosts should have too much firepower for the Foxes.
Lacazette to score first at 9/2
The Frenchman has been leading the line for Arsenal in recent weeks and he certainly looks up to the task after netting his team’s first two goals against Fulham.
