Arsenal v Swansea City Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
October 25, 2017
Emirates Stadium - Premier League
Fired-up by a five-goal display at Everton, Arsenal have to back that up with a win over a Swansea City side that needs a result to edge away from danger.
The clubs have only met 23 times in total and of 16 league meetings the Gunners edge the Swans by just a single victory. Last season Arsenal did the double over Swansea scoring seven goals in the process – 4-0 away and 3-2 at home – but Swansea had won on their two previous visits to the Emirates – 2-1 and 1-0 – while drawing 2-2 the time before that.
While Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck is a front three most teams would kill for, that trio are likely to miss out to Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, who brought the end of Ronald Koeman's Everton reign last weekend.
Swansea suffered a League Cup exit against Manchester United in midweek and will wait to see how Roque Mesa came through his hour against the Red Devils. Paul Clement isn't expected to have Kyle Bartley and Wilfried Bony back in time for this one.
Arsenal v Swansea City Preview and Predictions
Arsenal are odds on to win at 2/7 with Swansea outsiders at 14/1, while the chances of a draw are priced at 61/10
In Ozil, Sanchez and Lacazette Arsenal have the Z Factor but no-one will be sent to sleep if this hot trio click against struggling Swansea.
With four goals in his last four home games Lacazette doesn’t look to be struggling to settle in to English football and Swansea will need to be at their best to keep out the former Lyon man, who has scored 81 goals in his last 106 league games. Lacazette is 11/4 for the first goal and 2/3 to score at any time.
On loan Chelsea man Tammy Abraham has five goals in all competitions for the Swans so far which is a good return as he will be getting far fewer chances created for him per game than the Gunners front men, who are never short of ammunition.
Arsenal maintained their 100% home record in all competitions in the midweek win over Norwich City and haven't conceded in their last three home Premier League games, though the Canaries did breach the young XI on Tuesday night.
Swansea have only scored at Crystal Palace in away league games this season but after Petr Cech looked shaky at Everton, the visitors might feel hopeful of at least getting a goal.
Alexandre Lacazette to score first at 11/4
Scoring regularly at the Emirates, the striker seems razor sharp at the moment and with some of the best creators in the Premier League behind him he is sure to get chances.
Arsenal to win 3-1 at 11/1
This should be a routine home win with Arsenal creating and converting well up front but always likely to leak a goal into the bargain.
