Aston Villa v Burnley Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
September 25, 2019
Villa Park - Premier League
Aston Villa welcome Burnley to Villa Park in the Premier League on Saturday, with the home side looking to get over dissapointment last weekend. The Clarets are in better shape having picked up a win against Norwich, to build on a solid start to the season.
The two sides haven't met since 2015, when a goal from Danny Ings saw Burnley beat Villa at Villa Park.
James Chester may be fit to start for Aston Villa, who could use the re-enforcements following a mid-week fixture against Brighton. Having rested a number of key players for the trip to the south-coast, Dean Smith is likely to return to his strongest XI on Saturday.
Danny Drinkwater remains sidelined with an ankle injury but Johann Gudmundsson should be fit to start on the weekend. Sean Dyche, however, is unlikely to make many changes, following his side's impressive performance against Norwich, meaning Jeff Hendrick is likely to retain his place on the wing.
Aston Villa v Burnley Predictions and Previews
Aston Villa sit in the relegation zone going into their Saturday tie against Burnely, and will be hoping that their luck turns sooner rather than later.
Dean Smith can feel justifiably aggrieved following his side's defeat by Arsenal, where a number of refereeing decisions went against his side for the second week in a row. A hand-ball in the box not given, and a Gunners free-kick goal that should have been disallowed ensured a demoralizing defeat for the Villains.
Burnley, on the other hand, put in a typically hard-fought performance to win their recent game against Norwich. Although a victory over a newly-promoted team may seem little recent to celebrate, the Canaries had momentum and confidence going into the game, and were all-but favourites going into the game. Instead two early goals from Chris Wood ensured that Dyche's team moved into ninth place in the table, a long way from the relegation battle that they were facing at this time last season,
Saturday's game is likely to be tight between the two sides, but Villa appear to have been growing into the season, and learning how to unlock Premier League opposition. Burnley showed that they are no easy team to break down however, and Villa will have to be wary of the Clarets' deadly strike duo.
Asheley Barnes to score anytime at 21/10
The forward is in strong form and despite not scoring last weekend, will be looking to cause problems in behind Villa's centre-backs.
Both teams to score at 8/11
Villa should be on the front foot for most of the game, but Burnley will remain a threat on the counter.
