Belgium v Kazakhstan Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
June 04, 2019
King Baudouin Stadium - Euro 2020 Qualification
Belgium host Kazakstan on Saturday, fully expecting to continue their 100% record in the European Championship qualifying campaign. The visitors, ranked 116th in the world, shocked Scotland in their opener, before a disappointing defeat to Russia.
Belgium have only won two of their last four meetings with Kazakstan, although the most recent saw a comprehensive 4-1 win, with Timmy Simmons, Eden Hazard, Vincent Company and Marvin Ogunjimi all on the score-sheet for the home side.
Vincent Kompany has been recalled to the squad, joining other Premier League stars Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku who both missed out in the last round of international fixtures. Captain Eden Hazard will travel with the squad although may be rested against Kazakstan, whilst Jan Vertongen is also likely to be rested following his involvement in the Europa League final.
Michal Bilek will be able to welcome back influential midfielder Bauyrzhan Islamkhan who was only fit to feature as a substitute against Russia and Scotland. Centre back Yuriy Logvinenko should also have recovered to return, joining recalled former starlet Alexander Merkel.
Belgium v Kazakstan Predictions and Previews
Roberto Martínez is currently in the news, with links of filling the managerial vacancy at Barcelona, but the coach will be fully concentrating on furthering Belgium's Euro 2020 qualifying campaign. Two wins out of two put the Red Devils in a strong position, but any small slip-up, especially against the likes of Kazakstan, could cause instant problems.
The visiting side may not have the international pedigree of their hosts, but are enjoying a purple patch, with only two defeats in their last four games. A 3-0 win over Scotland back in March was particularly memorable an Michal Bilek has good reason to be pleased with his current crop of players.
Although underdogs, Kazakstan will consider any result a massive positive, and should be able to count on three points in their subsequent trip to face San Marino. As a result, the players will be able to enter the pitch with little pressure, and instead enjoy the opportunity to face one of the best sides in the world, using it to practice how to contain top-level opposition.
For the home side, a win is vital, and anything else would be a shock. Martinez has continued with a three-man defence, something that will serve well against a defensive-minded Kazakstan side. Premier League fans will enjoy watch two of the league's break-out midfield talents Youri Tielemans and Leandro Dendoncker partnered in midfield, whilst the two Hazard brothers, Eden and Thorgan operate on the left flank.
Such an array of creative talent should make scoring little difficulty, with Manchester United's Lukaku 1/3 to be amongst the goals. As ever, the longer Kazakstan are able to hold on, the more Belgium's superstars may allow doubt to affect their play - giving the away side a glimpse of hope.
Eden Hazard to score anytime at 8/15
The winger signed off to Chelsea fans in style with a Europa League final brace, and will be Belgium's best means of breaking a deadlock.
Over 3.5 goals at 1/2
The combination of skill and physicality could take the game out of Kazakstan's hands early on in the fixture.
