Vitality Stadium - Premier League

It’s an all south coast affair at the Vitality on Friday night, as Bournemouth host Brighton in search of their first Premier League points of the season. Things are starting to get very uncomfortable for Eddie Howe, with a fifth straight defeat unthinkable for the Cherries.

Past Meetings

Bournemouth are unbeaten against Brighton since January 2008, with the clubs meeting six times in League One and the Championship since. The Cherries recorded a double over the Seagulls the last time they shared a league with each other in the 2014-15 Championship season. The game at the Vitality that year ended 3-2 to the hosts.

Team News

Ryan Fraser’s expected to miss out for Bournemouth, after picking up a knock in the first half against Arsenal at the weekend. Jordan Ibe came on to replace the Scottish winger, and would expect to start in his absence. Meanwhile, Junior Stanislas is nearing a return after injuring his groin in pre season, and could feature before the month’s out.

For the visitors, Izzy Brown’s close to making a comeback after the Chelsea loanee pulled his hamstring on the opening day of the season. He remains a major doubt for this one though. Bruno Saltor has a slim chance of making it, but Steve Sidwell, Gaetan Bong, Beram Kayal and Sam Baldock are all expected to miss out.

Bournemouth v Brighton Preview and Predictions

After performing so well since getting into the Premier League, Bournemouth’s start to their third season in the big time has been disastrous. Brighton will be buoyed by their first win of the campaign against West Brom on Saturday, and could pose a threat after finally finding their scoring touch.

Although it’s still very early days, Bournemouth can’t afford to give many more points away to the teams above them at the foot of the table. It’s hard to imagine that Howe’s under much pressure from upstairs at this point, but the Cherries need to start winning. You can back the hosts at 23/20 to stop the rot with their first win of the campaign. A draw would hardly be a good result in the circumstances, and this is priced at 13/5.

Brighton kickstarted their season with a bang at the weekend, putting three past a West Brom side that’d only conceded once in their first three games. A good start was vital for Chris Hughton as he looks to instil some confidence in his Premier League newcomers. A second win on the bounce would be a massive result for the visitors, and it’s priced at 3/1 in the betting.

Recommended Bets

Bournemouth to win to nil at 5/2

Brighton failed to find the net in their first three Premier League games, and you can improve your odds on a Bournemouth win by backing the visitors to draw another blank.

Brighton to win and both teams to score at 7/1

Or bet on Brighton to add to last weekend’s win with another three points. 2-1 to the Seagulls is priced at 14/1.
