Bournemouth v Chelsea Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
October 26, 2017
Vitality Stadium - Premier League
After rescuing victory from the jaws of defeat in their last outing, Chelsea travel to the south coast to face Bournemouth in this Saturday evening fixture.
This will be just the 10th meeting between these two teams. Bournemouth beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in their first Premier League game against a Jose Mourinho side that were defending champions. The Blues have won all three fixtures since though, scoring 10 goals with just two in reply.
After suffering from an illness, Josh King faces a late fitness test ahead of this one. With Jermain Defoe almost certainly out because of a hamstring problem, under pressure Eddie Howe will be hoping that the Norwegian international is fit to play.
Antonio Conte continues to have his midfield options limited, as N’Golo Kante remains on the treatment table, but Danny Drinkwater was fit to make his debut in the midweek win over Everton.
Victor Moses misses out with a hamstring injury, while Michy Batshuayi is pushing for a start after his goalscoring heroics against Watford. With Alvaro Morata around, he probably won’t get it though and will have to settle for a place on the bench.
Bournemouth v Chelsea Preview and Predictions
If Bournemouth hadn’t beaten Stoke last weekend and Chelsea had failed to recover from going behind, this game would’ve been between two sides with managers under mounting pressure. As it stands Bournemouth are still in the relegation places, but there are plenty of sides that are very catchable.
Chelsea meanwhile are nine points behind Manchester City at the top of the table. With the form that Pep Guardiola’s side are in, there may be no catching them. The Blues face a very tough task to retain their Premier League crown, but their supporters will demand that they at least make a better fist of it than the last time they won the title. Moments like Pedro's stunner against Watford will certainly illuminate their campaign wherever they finish up.
With such great depth in quality throughout the Premier League, it’s going to be harder than ever for the Cherries to stay in the top flight. Games against the top sides are usually looked upon as a bonus round, so if they can pick up a point then it’ll be seen as a positive result at the Vitality. With this in mind, the draw’s priced 13/4 in the betting. Chelsea start as favourites with the bookmakers at 16/25, while Bournemouth are available at 11/2.
Chelsea to win to nil at 39/20
With Bournemouth finding the net just six times in their nine games so far, you can improve your odds on the away win by predicting that Chelsea keep a clean sheet.
Bournemouth to win 1-0 at 17/1
Or back the hosts to repeat their 1-0 victory over Chelsea from almost two years ago, as they secure a valuable three points against Conte’s stuttering side.
