Brighton v Newcastle Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
April 25, 2019
AMEX Stadium – Premier League
Relegation threatened Brighton host Newcastle this weekend in what could be their last winnable game of the Premier League season. Relegation fears are mounting on the south coast, as Brighton can't buy a win lately.
The Seagulls won 1-0 at St. James' Park earlier this season, with Baram Kayal netting the winning goal.
Chris Hughton's side are unbeaten in all three of the Premier League meetings with the Magpies.
Brighton will be boosted by the return of forward Anthony Knockaert, after he completed a three match ban following his red card against Bournemouth earlier this month.
However midfielder Davy Propper will miss out after picking up a thigh injury in the draw with Wolves last weekend.
Newcastle will give late fitness tests to Fabian Schar and Isaac Hayden as they recover from injuries. However, forward Miguel Almiron could miss the rest of the season with a hamstring issue, with Florian Lejuene and Sean Longstaff already out.
Brighton v Newcastle Preview and Predictions
Brighton were denied a vital point at Tottenham in midweek, losing 1-0 to Mauricio Pochettino's side in the end, with three games left to preserve their top flight status.
With games against Arsenal and Manchester City to come, Brighton need a positive result to ward off the potential of Cardiff overhauling them.
Newcastle have already secured their Premier League place for next season, with 10 points separating them from the drop zone.
Rafa Benitez has ensured that his side remain focused, and they have won back to back games ahead of this weekend and they will not down tools at the AMEX.
Hughton knows they need a result, but despite improvements in defence, they are still struggling at the other end – so a draw, at 11/5, could be a good option to go for.
No goals in their last seven games in league and cup action tells its own story of Brighton's issues, and this one is also likely to be low on thrills – and an under 2.5 total goals bet comes in at 8/15.
A 1-1 draw at 11/2
Despite their desperate situation, Brighton have shown the grit that is needed to get out of the mire. However their lack of goals may come back to haunt them, if Cardiff can turn things around themselves.
Ayoze Perez to score anytime at 3/1
With no one in the Brighton side in any sort of goal scoring form, Perez four goals in his last two games certainly make him one to watch. There is not likely to be many chances in this one, and he could be a key difference.
