Burnley v West Ham United Predictions, Betting Tips and Preview
October 10, 2017
Turf Moor - Premier League
Sixth-placed Burnley need a win to show they deserve to be where they are and also to show that they can still make Turf Moor a fortress. Inconsistent West Ham need to grind out a result rather than being the pushover they were earlier in the season.
Despite Burnley’s strong home record West Ham have won their last three visits. Turf Moor is a ground they have historically done well at with six wins, two draws and only one defeat in their nine trips since 1979-80.
West Ham have Marko Arnautovic back after illness and expect to also be able to call upon James Collins and Edimilson Fernandes after ankle injuries while Pedro Obiang is also expected to have recovered from a muscle injury.
Burnley remain without long-term injury absentee Tom Heaton in goal with Nick Pope continuing to deputise.
Burnley v West Ham United Preview and Predictions
Burnley are 23/13 to win with West Ham at 21/11 and the odds on a draw at 23/10.
Away wins at Stamford Bridge and Goodison Park show that Sean Dyche’s Burnley are no longer reliant on Turf Moor to deliver almost all of their points. Now their task is to handle the increased expectations at home. In four games in all competitions at home they have only beaten crisis club Crystal Palace and even then only by 1-0.
West Ham seem in semi-permanent struggle under Slaven Bilic. They edged an important 1-0 win over Swansea last time out and kept another clean sheet in a dull 0-0 at WBA in their last away game but they were woeful in losing 3-0 at Newcastle and also conceded three at Southampton who have found goals hard to come by.
You don’t know which West Ham are going to turn up but if it is the weak and watery version then Burnley will waste no time in taking full advantage.
At first glance this looks like a home banker but Burnley haven’t been themselves at home this season despite their bright start and West Ham have an outstanding record there. Still, at the moment Burnley are a better team and have the chance to prove it.
Burnley to win 3-1 at 25/1
Attractive odds for a perfectly possible result between confident Burnley who have home advantage against a fragile West Ham.
Burnley to win after leading at half time at 18/5.
Determined to get back on track at home Burnley will start at a high tempo and if they get ahead they have the ability to lock The Hammers out.
