Cardiff City v Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
February 25, 2019
Cardiff City Stadium - Premier League
After their drubbing at the weekend, Cardiff are back on home soil as they welcome another struggling team to South Wales. Everton boss Marco Silva is feeling the pressure ahead of this midweek encounter.
Everton won 1-0 when the teams met on Merseyside earlier this season. Before that, the teams hadn’t met since Cardiff were last in the Premier League, in 2013/14. They drew 0-0 in South Wales before Everton won their home game 2-1, courtesy of Seamus Coleman’s injury-time winner.
Cardiff’s on-loan striker Oumar Niasse is unavailable for this game, as he can’t play against his parent club. Victor Camarasa is expected to return from a calf injury that seen Neil Warnock clash with the Spaniard’s own medical team, while Lee Peltier is a doubt due to an illness.
Kurt Zouma is suspended for this game, after the French defender was sent off in Everton’s last game against Watford. Fellow centre-back Yerry Mina is an injury doubt, which could open the door for fit-again Phil Jagielka. Leighton Baines is expected to be okay for this game after a rib injury.
Cardiff City v Everton Preview and Predictions
After such a difficult time for the club, things had all started to look up for Cardiff. They won back-to-back games to lift themselves out of the bottom three, and then went and collapsed at home to Watford on Saturday.
That 5-1 spanking was a real humiliation for Warnock and his players, and something of a surprise too. The Bluebirds boss will expect a reaction from his players, and they could have worse opponents than this flaky Everton team.
The Toffees have only won one of their last six games in all competitions, and have lost their last three matches. They haven’t played since February 9, which could go one of two ways on Tuesday. Either we see a set of players who are hungry and well-drilled after some extra time on the training pitches, or we get a slow start and rusty performance.
If you think it’ll be the latter, Cardiff could be quite an attractive price at 14/5. However, it’d take a brave bet to back the Bluebirds after their pasting just a couple of days ago. With that in mind, Everton are 7/6 for the win, while the draw is available at 12/5.
Everton to win and BTTS at 18/5
The visitors are the favourites for the win, but they’ve only kept two clean sheets away from home so far this season.
Richarlison to score first at 5/1
The Brazilian has scored 10 goals so far this season, which is more than double any Cardiff player has managed.
