Cardiff City Stadium - Premier League

Cardiff host Brighton at the Cardiff City Stadium in this weekend's early kick-off, with the home side desperately needing all three points. The Bluebirds dropped back into the relegation zone despite an impressive performance against Leicester, whilst the Seagulls were comprehensively beaten by Everton.

Past Meetings

Just one goal was scored in the sides' two meetings in the 2016/17 season, with Tom Hemed earning the win for Brighton at the Amex stadium.

Team News

Neil Warnock is likely to field a similar side to last Saturday, with Callum Paterson supported by Josh Murphy and Victor Kamarasa on the flanks. The manger may be tempted to field Junior Hoilett over Bobby Reid in order to give his side some much needed attacking impetus.

Chris Hughton may once again have to do without Davy Propper after the midfielder missed the defeat to Everton with a thigh problem. With Pascal Gross also sidelines, the coach may be tempted to bring Izzy Brown into central midfield, allowing his side to play a more expansive game against Cardiff.

Cardiff v Brighton Preview and Predictions

Before the season kicked off, Cardiff were amongst the favorites for relegation, and little has changed with eleven games played. The Bluebirds have just five points to their name, with their only win coming against the similarly struggling Fulham. Going into Saturday's game, even a point would be a coup for Warnock's side.

Brighton, on the other hand, have enjoyed an uncharacteristically positive start to the season, including a win over Manchester United and a run of three consecutive wins. However, Chris Hughton's men were comprehensively beaten last weekend, although admittedly by an impressive Everton side. The Seagulls may have levelled Richarlison's opener, yet were on the back-foot throughout, with under 40% possession and nearly a third of the hosts' shot count.

Hughton will be far from downhearted by the result, but will be keen to impress on his side the importance of Saturday's game. Cardiff pose a very different opponent to Everton, and will be a valuable yard-stick for the manager to assess his side's improvement.

For Warnock, the early kick off also poses a valuable opportunity, with home games against sides from the bottom half of the table at a premium. The heavy defeat to Liverpool not withstanding, the Welsh club have managed to shore up their defense somewhat, having lost by just one goal in three of their last five games. Against Brighton, the newly-promoted side will believe that they can improve on this, and take the opportunity to break out of the drop-zone.

Both sides will be in it to win it this weeknd, and the side which comes out on top will be a good indication of the rest of their season.

Reccomended Bets

Glenn Murray to score anytime at 13/8

Brighton's top-goalscorer has been in lethal form yet again this season and will enjoy a physical battle against Sol Bamba.

Both teams to score and Brighton to win at 11/2

Cardiff were unlucky not to score against Leicester but may risk leaving themselves open if they overcommit against Brighton.
