Cardiff v Leicester Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews

- Grant Whittington

Cardiff City Stadium - Premier League

Football will be the last thing on Leicester City minds as they travel to Cardiff in the Premier League this weekend, looking for three points. The Bluebirds may have broken clear of the relegation zone, but will know that another loss could see them overtaken by all three teams below them.

Past Meetings

These two sides haven't met since 2013, before the Foxes' dramatic return to the Premier League. Michael Keane opened the scoring for Leicester away in Wales, before Rudy Gestede levelled for the home side.

Team News

Neil Warnock could make wholesale changes to the side that was comprehensively beaten by Liverpool, but will be wary of a widely similar XI's impressive win against Fulham. Harry Arter will be sorely missed yet again in the middle of the park, with Loic Damour potentially starting only his second game of the season.

Jamie Vardy should be fully fit come Saturday and is likely to replace Kelechi Iheanacho up front, whilst Demarai Gray made a solid case to start over Mark Albrighton on the left flank.

Cardiff v Leicester Preview and Predictions

Cardiff's recent win over Fulham handed the Bluebirds their first three points of the season, and a vital boost. Neil Warnock will know that his side don't need to win many games to stay in the Premier League, provided that they beat their relegation rivals.

For Leicester, Saturday will be more about how they deal with Sunday's tragedy rather than their position in the league, and Claude Puel may be forgiven for resting some of the Foxes' more veteran players. All eyes will be on Jamie Vardy and Kaspar Schmeichel in particular, the two remaining regular starters from the title winning side.

With Leicester's Tuesday fixture cancelled, the players will have had time to process and will likely be raring to get back to what they know best. The match against West Ham was frustrating for the Foxes, as having fallen behind early on, they were unable to capitalise on Mark Noble's red card until the last minute. Sitting mid-table, Puel will know that taking one point at home will not suffice for the club's amitions and will hope to improve this weekend.

Cardiff's comprehensive defeat to Liverpool, whilst not coming as much of a surprise, will have been demoralising following the side's strong performance the previous week. Warnock's decision to field a nearly identical XI clearly did not pay off, as the side evidently struggled to transition from playing an attacking open game, to defending with their backs to goal.

Against Leicester, the Bluebirds will likely experience a happy medium, making the manager's decision potentially more difficult. If they are able to play as they did against Fulham, they may well get at a Leicester side that has conceded 16 goals this season, yet risk being left open to the counter-attack - the Foxes' special.

Reccomended Bets

Jamie Vardy to score anytime at 7/5

The England striker hasn't had much playing time recently, but his legs will be fresh and he often fares better away from home with some space to run into.

Under 2.5 goals at 4/6

Cardiff haven't been full of goals and a point against Leicester may be considered enough by Warnock.
