March 05, 2019
Cardiff City Stadium - Premier League
Neil Warnock's Cardiff City host West Ham this weekend, with the Welsh side looking for a positive result to lift them out of the relegation zone.
West Ham won 3-1 at home against the Welsh side earlier this season, with two goals from Lucas Perez and one from Michail Antonio securing all three points.
The Hammers have won all three of their meetings with Cardiff in the Premier League.
Cardiff will be without defender Sol Bamba after he was withdrawn in their defeat at Wolves last weekend, with the potential that he could miss the rest of the season.
Aaron Cresswell joins the growing list of injury absences for Manuel Pellegrini's side, with Jack Wilshere, Winston Reid, Carlos Sanchez, Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko and Benjamin Johnson all ruled out.
Cardiff v West Ham Preview and Predictions
The Bluebirds lost 2-0 away at Wolves last time out, stretching their run of defeats to three consecutive Premier League games ahead of this weekend. They are two points adrift of safety, in 18th place in the table, and their home form is the key to preserving their top flight status for 2019-20.
West Ham won 2-0 in their last game, at home to Rafa Benitez's Newcastle, and they have lost just once - to league leaders Manchester City - in their last five games. However their form away from the London Stadium in 2019 is a concern for Pellegrini, with no win in their last five league games on the road.
Cardiff need a big result, but against a fairly solid West Ham side they should have enough to pick up a draw on home turf - priced at 12/5. Warnock has based his side on pragmatism rather than style, and points are points at this stage of the season. With that in mind, an under 2.5 total goals scored bet is at 4/5.
A 1-1 draw at 6/1
As desperate as Cardiff are for a morale boosting win, they do not look to have the attacking power to take maximum points from The Hammers, despite their struggles on the road in recent weeks. Pellegrini's side also still have one eye on seventh place, and will want to avoid a loss.
Bobby Reid to score anytime at 23/10
The goals have not exactly flowed for Cardiff this season, in fact the absent Bamba is their joint highest scorer in league action, with four. Reid is level with Bamba, and he is the closest they have to a striker in form, with two goals in his last four games.
