Chelsea v Cardiff Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
September 11, 2018
Stamford Bridge - Premier League
Cardiff head to Stamford Bridge this weekend, with Neil Warnock's side still without a win so far on their return to the Premier League.
Past Meetings
Chelsea won home and away against Cardiff during their one and only Premier League season, in 2013/14, with an aggregate score of 6-2.
Cardiff's last win against The Blues, was a 2-1 League Cup home victory back in 1986.
Team News
Chelsea's main injury doubt is over midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who has a knee problem. He is yet to play in the Premier League for Maurizio Sarri this season, with Ross Barkley or Mateo Kovacic starting in his place.
Cardiff are also sweating on the fitness of midfield duo Aron Gunnarsson and Josh Murphy, with the former not playing so far this season and the latter missing their last game, against Arsenal.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has been ruled out until December with a serious knee injury.
Chelsea v Cardiff Preview and Predictions
Chelsea have started well under Sarri, with four straight wins so far in the Premier League. In contrast, Cardiff have picked up just two points from their first four games of the 2018/19 campaign.
Whilst Cardiff will make this tough going for Chelsea, as they did against Arsenal, there is little reason to see this not being a comfortable home win. A victory for Sarri's team, comes in at 1/6, and would allow them to keep pace with the only other side with a 100% record this season, Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.
Chelsea have been strong defensively so far this season, conceding just three goals in four games, and up against a Cardiff side that has scored just twice in for games, they should win with something to spare.
A home win, with Cardiff not to score, is available at 4/5.
Recommended Bets
Chelsea to win 2-0 at 11/2
The Blues have scored twice in their last two games, beating Newcastle and Bournemouth, and they show little signs of being stopped by a struggling Cardiff side, that already looks to be in relegation trouble.
Pedro to score first at 4/1
Spanish international Pedro has been in outstanding form so far in 2018/19, scoring three goals in four appearances, more than any other player. He also netted the opening goals against Arsenal and Bournemouth.
