Chelsea v Swansea City Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
November 27, 2017
Stamford Bridge - Premier League
Chelsea welcome Swansea to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening, as the Blues look to get back to winning ways after their draw against Liverpool. Already 11 points behind Manchester City, Antonio Conte’s side can’t afford many more slips if they want to have any hope of retaining their Premier League crown.
Past Meetings
Chelsea won this fixture 3-1 last season thanks to goals from Cesc Fabregas, Pedro and Diego Costa. Swansea though took five points from the three games prior to that against the Blues. The last time the Swans beat Chelsea in the league at Stamford Bridge was almost a century ago back in 1925, when the visitors were called Swansea Town.
Team News
Conte has no problems among his first choice starters, although backup striker Michy Batshuayi misses out with an ankle injury. Kenedy and Charly Musonda are also absent, while last season’s first goalscorer Fabregas could return to the starting lineup after coming on as a substitute at Anfield.
Kyle Bartley is the only player on Swansea’s treatment table, as the defender continues his recovery from a knee ligament injury. Paul Clement has a decision to make on whether to bring Tammy Abraham back into the team. The youngster’s been impressive so far this season, while Wilfried Bony and Jordan Ayew failed to find the net at home against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Chelsea v Swansea City Preview and Predictions
As Chelsea join the rest of the Premier League in struggling to keep up with Manchester City, Swansea face the very real threat of dropping out of the division altogether. After a run of disappointing results that’s yielded just one point from their last six games, a heavy defeat at Stamford Bridge could signal the end for Clement.
Whether a cross or shot, Willian’s late equaliser was a valuable one for Chelsea, as it kept them three points clear of sixth placed Liverpool. While the title looks like being a one-horse race, the battle for the Champions League places promises to be a real dogfight once again. With so much going forward the Blues should have few problems dispatching Swansea, and the hosts are priced at 1/5 for the win in the betting.
The Swans meanwhile are priced as long as 20/1 to cause what would be a massive upset. Few would give the visitors a chance going into this one, especially considering they’ve found the back of the net just seven times in their 13 games so far in the Premier League. Although it’s still a long shot, the draw’s a more realistic bet at 7/1.
