Chicago Fire v New England Revolution Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
August 02, 2017
Sunday August 6 – Toyota Park, Chicago – MLS
High flying Chicago Fire host New England on Sunday as they look to continue their pursuit of Eastern Conference leaders Toronto FC.
Chicago have an excellent recent record against their visitors on Sunday, winning the last three meetings between the two sides, including a home and away double already this season. However prior to those wins, New England secured back-to-back wins over Chicago last season.
Despite their lofty position in the MLS table, Chicago are suffering with an injury crisis at the moment, and it shows little signs of easing up ahead of Sunday’s game.
Midfielder John Goossens is out for the remainder of the season after undergoing ankle surgery, and he is joined by goalkeeper Jorge Bava and defender Brandon Vincent on the long term injury list with elbow and thigh injuries respectively.
They could be boosted by two returns however, key striker David Arshakyan and defender Johnathan Campbell have both returned to training from ankle injuries and could play some part.
New England’s only injury problem is on midfielder Daigo Kobayashi. The midfielder is back in training following a hamstring problem, but he is unlikely to be fit in time for Sunday’s meeting.
Chicago Fire v New England Preview and Predictions
Chicago have fallen away in terms of recent form, as despite sitting in second place in the Eastern Conference they are without a win in their last three MLS games. However all three of those games have been away from home and they will be relishing a return to Toyota Park on Sunday.
New England’s form has gone the opposite way in recent games, securing back-to-back wins in their last two games, at home to LA Galaxy and Philadelphia Union, following a run of four consecutive losses.
Home advantage and greater quality should edge this for Chicago Fire, with a home win priced at 8/11. It will be tight and could be decided by a single goal, and an under 2.5 goals bet is 13/10.
Chicago Fire to win 1-0 at 8/1
The hosts are desperate to get back to winning ways, and they will be happy with a narrow win over New England if it can get their title challenge back on track.
Game to be a draw at half time 11/8
Chicago Fire have developed a habit of second half goals in recent games, scoring after the break their last three games.
