Crystal Palace v Norwich City Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
September 24, 2019
Selhurst Park - Premier League
Crystal Palace will be aiming for a better result at home this weekend, after a late goal denied them a win at home to Wolves last time out.
Palace beat Norwich City home and away the last time these two sides faced each other in league action, back in the 2015-16 Premier League season, with the Canaries without a win against Palace since 2013.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the visit of Daniel Farke's side, with Jordan Ayew and JamesMcArthur both expected to shake off minor injuries to play. However striker Connor Wickham remains a long term injury absentee.
Norwich's injury list continues to grow with the news that midfielder Alex Tettey is now out for at least a month with a groin injury he picked up away at Burnley last weekend, with goal keeper Tim Krul expected to be passed fit. Mario Vranic and Ralf Fahrmann have both returned to training, but are not yet match fit, while Christoph Zimmermann, Timm Klose, Onel Hernandez, Tom Trybull and Max Aarons are all still out.
Crystal Palace v Norwich City Preview and Predictions
Palace were just seconds away from a valuable second successive home win of the season in the Premier League against Wolves, only for Diogo Jota to net a 96th minute equaliser for Nuno Santo's side at Selhurst Park last weekend. Hodgson was frustrated with that late slip, but he will be confident of maintaining their strong unbeaten home Premier League record so far this season, against a Norwich City side that have lost all three of their away games so far this season.
Norwich were taught a bit of a lesson of the harshness of the Premier League in a 2-0 defeat away at Turf Moor last weekend, bursting their bubble of a memorable 3-2 win at home against defending champions Manchester City a fortnight ago. Farke's injury worries continue to undermine the positive aspects of their return to the top flight, and their trip to South London this weekend could be an echo from their previous games up against a experienced Premier League side.
Palace have been far from impressive so far this season, but they are fairly solid, particularly at home - and should have just enough to win this one, with an Eagles win priced at 19/20. Hodgson's side are one of the lowest scorers in the Premier League in 2019-20, with just four goals scored in five league games so far, and this one should follow suit. With that mind, an under 2.5 total goals scored bet is available at 11/10.
Crystal Palace to win 1-0 at 17/2
Palace have squeezed out some positive results so far this season, with the 4-0 thrashing away at Tottenham their only heavy league defeat of the season so far. Former England boss Hodgson knows that a consistent home record will be needed to avoid being dragged into a relegation scrap.
Jordan Ayew to score first at 13/2
Ayew is the hosts leading scorer so far this season, with two goals, away at Manchester United and at home to newly promoted Aston Villa. Crucially the goal against Dean Smith's side was the winner, and the Ghanaian international could be the difference in a tight game.
