Everton v Burnley Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
April 29, 2019
Goodison Park - Premier League
The Premier League’s penultimate weekend kicks off with this Friday night fixture between Everton and Burnley at Goodison Park. Neither side won last time out but they’ve both been on good runs recently.
Past Meetings
Everton thrashed Burnley 5-1 at Turf Moor earlier this season, but the Clarets won 1-0 in last season’s corresponding fixture. The teams have met nine times in the Premier League, with Everton winning on five occasions and Burnley four.
Team News
Yerry Mina is back in full training and could be in contention to return from a hamstring injury this weekend. Apart from that, Andre Gomes is the only other player missing for the home team, as he serves the final game of a three-match ban.
Peter Crouch and Phil Bardsley are both in a race to be fit for this game, while Aaron Lennon is excepted to miss out. The winger could feature on the final day of the season, although Steven Defour has been ruled out of Burnley’s last two games.
Everton v Burnley Preview and Predictions
With the season drawing to a close, it looks as though both Everton and Burnley are now merely playing for places. The visitors will be more than happy with that after finally staving off the threat of relegation, but the hosts must be disappointed.
The Toffees had got themselves into contention for European football next season, but Saturday’s goalless draw at Crystal Palace looks to have put paid to their ambitions to finish seventh. Marco Silva’s side are now four points behind Wolves to leave their chances of playing in next season’s Europa League looking slim.
In spite of that, Everton have been in good form lately, beating Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea in their last three home games, without conceding a single goal. The Toffees have kept five clean sheets in their last six matches, so they’re looking good for the win on Friday at 8/13.
Burnley are 5/1, as they look to climb another couple of places before the season’s up. Currently 15th and guaranteed Premier League football next season, the Clarets lost their first game in five as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to champions Manchester City on Sunday. Sean Dyche’s side drew 2-2 at Chelsea in their last away game, with the draw here priced at 13/4.
