November 20, 2018
Goodison Park - Premier League
Everton welcome Cardiff to Goodison Park this weekend, with Marco Silva's side looking to continue their positive recent home form.
Everton won the last meeting between these two sides, back in the 2013-14 Premier League, with a last minute goal from Seamus Coleman securing a 2-1 victory at Goodison Park.
Everton will be without midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson for this clash after he injured his ankle in their last game, against Chelsea. Fellow midfielder Andre Gomes is also sidelined with a calf problem, alongside defender Jonjoe Kenny.
Cardiff boss Neil Warnock will wait until the last minute to make a fitness decision on three returning players, with Sean Morrison, Kenneth Zohore and Ashley Richards all in line for a comeback.
Everton v Cardiff City Predictions and Preview
Everton have won their last three games on home turf, with victories against Fulham, Crystal Palace and Brighton, ahead of the visit of Cardiff. The early season confidence of Silva's side is returning, and they will have earmarked this clash as an opportunity to pick up another three points.
Cardiff have shown an upturn in recent weeks, beating Brighton last weekend, their second Premier League win in four matches, spreading the belief that they might be able to stave off the threat of relegation.
However, even without the likely absences of key duo Sigurdsson and Gomes, Everton look to be on a roll currently, and despite Cardiff's improvements they are unlikely to cause to much of an issue for the hosts - with an Everton win at 2/5.
The Welsh side's away form has been particularly poor so far this season, with just two goals scored out of five games on the road at this stage, and an Everton win to nil is available at 13/10.
Everton to win 2-0 at 13/2
The Blues recovered well from their defeat to Manchester United earlier this month, to beat Brighton and pick up a hard fought point away at Chelsea. They have lost just once at home this season in league action, and Silva will want his players to keep their strong run going.
Richarlison to score first at 15/4
Brazilian international Richarlison is back in form, after netting two goals in the win over Brighton, and he will be a real threat for Cardiff in his new central attacking role. The former Watford man is also Everton's top scorer in the Premier League so far this season, with six goals.
