Everton v Huddersfield Town Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
November 30, 2017
Goodison Park - Premier League
Sam Allardyce will take charge of Everton for the first time on Saturday, as the Toffees host Huddersfield at Goodison Park. The new manager could hardly be starting on a better note after the resounding win over West Ham in midweek.
This is the first time the two sides have met for seven years, when Everton thrashed Huddersfield 5-1 in the League Cup. Before that, you have to go back to the 1971/72 season, when the teams played out two two draws.
Oumar Niasse has served the second game of his suspension thanks to that diving charge, but Allardyce will be without a large number of players due to injury. The likes of Yannick Bolasie, Ross Barkley, Seamus Coleman and James McCarthy are nearing a return to action, while Michael Keane and Leighton Baines are in a race to be fit for Saturday.
Rajiv van La Parra is suspended for the visitors after his late sending off against Manchester City last weekend. Huddersfield boss David Wagner will also be without Michael Hefele, while Philip Billing and Jon Stankovic are pencilled in for a return early in the new year.
Everton v Huddersfield Preview and Predictions
At the start of the week it would’ve been hard to predict the mood that these two sides now find themselves in approaching this game. It was all doom and gloom at Everton after getting thumped at Southampton, while a narrow defeat against Manchester City had done little to dent the confidence at Huddersfield. What a difference a round of midweek fixtures makes.
A resounding win, a Wayne Rooney hat-trick that included his goal of the season contender, and a nice sign off for David Unsworth after his caretaker manager duties. It couldn’t have got much better for the Goodison faithful after a dismal start to the season. And while Huddersfield have impressed so far this season, Allardyce will be relishing this as his first game at the helm.
The visitors will have to deal with the occasion that greets them on Saturday, as Wagner’s side look to stop the rot. The Terriers have lost three in a row now, with four consecutive defeats away from home where they’ve failed to find the back of the net. The 5-0 humbling at Arsenal on Wednesday was a reminder of the task they face to stay in the top flight, so this is a big test of Huddersfield’s Premier League credentials.
Everton start the game as favourites in the betting, priced at 8/11. Huddersfield are available at 49/10 for the win, while the draw’s 14/5.
