Everton v Liverpool Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
February 28, 2019
Goodison Park - Premier League
Liverpool head across Stanley Park for a Merseyside Derby with Everon that could make or break their Premier League title challenge.
Liverpool won the first Merseyside derby of the season at Anfield, thanks to Divock Origi's late goal in a 1-0 victory. Everton's last win over their city rivals came back in 2010.
Everton's only injury concern is over full back Leighton Baines, but the veteran defender is only likely to be fit for a place on the bench for Marco Silva's side.
Jurgen Klopp will make late decisions on forward Roberto Firmino and midfielder Nabyy Keita, who missed their last game, against Watford with an ankle injury and illness respectively. Dejan Lovren, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez are out, with Andrew Robertson facing a late fitness test.
Everton v Liverpool Predictions and Preview
Silva's Everton returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory away at Cardiff City on Tuesday night, ending a run of three consecutive Premier League defeats.
The derby has added significance given Liverpool's title push and the bizarre surroundings of the game at Anfield earlier this season, and Silva will need to harness that correctly.
Liverpool were excellent in their 5-0 win at home to Watford, delivering a message to rivals Manchester City, and remaining a point ahead of Pep Guardiola's side at the top of the table. Klopp's has an excellent record in derby games, with five wins from seven against The Toffees, and they need to keep their run going against their rivals.
Despite being under pressure to keep winning, Liverpool look to be handling the situation well and they should win this one - priced at 4/7. Everton will make it as difficult as possible Klopp's visiting side and a BTTS bet comes in at a very tempting price of 4/5 in this high stakes clash.
Liverpool to win 2-1 at 8/1
The Reds know they cannot afford to stumble, with Manchester City likely to already be ahead of them before kick off if they beat Bournemouth on Saturday. They will want to take as much of the sting out of the game as possible and move onto their next game.
Sadio Mane to score anytime at 6/4
Despite a return to form against Watford for talisman Mo Salah, Senegalese international has been their key man in 2019. He has six goals in his last six Premier League goals for Klopp's side, as well as two goals in Merseyside derbies since he moved to Anfield in 2016.
