Fulham v Huddersfield Town Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
December 27, 2018
Craven Cottage - Premier League
This is a massive game at the foot of the Premier League table, as Fulham welcome Huddersfield to Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon. The Cottagers hauled themselves off the bottom of the table with a point against Wolves on Boxing Day, leaving the Terriers propping up the division.
Huddersfield beat Fulham 1-0 in their first meeting of the season last month, but Fulham outscored the Terriers by nine goals to one the last time they were in the same league. That was in the Championship the season before last, with Fulham beating Huddersfield 5-0 at home.
Claudio Ranieri will only be without Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa for this crucial game. Apart from that, the Italian boss has a full complement of players to choose from.
David Wagner has injury concerns over five players, with Aaron Mooy, Danny Williams, Abdelhamid Sabiri and Tom Smith all out. Rajiv van La Parra could be fit to play though after a back injury has kept him out in recent weeks.
Fulham v Huddersfield Town Preview and Predictions
Fulham start this game a single point ahead of their visitors in the table. Huddersfield are five points from safety after losing their last six matches, making this a massive game for the Terriers. It’s also huge for the hosts, who can’t afford to lose games like this if they’re going to beat the drop.
The Cottagers almost got their first victory in six on Boxing Day, scoring late through Ryan Sessegnon before conceding an 85th-minute equaliser to Wolves. That followed a 0-0 against Newcastle at St James’ Park a few days ago, with the signs there that Ranieri is starting to sort out his leaky defence.
The home team are 11/10 for the win, so they start as the favourites in the betting. Huddersfield are 16/5, as they aim to stop the rot. No Terriers striker has managed to score yet this season, and that simply cannot continue.
The January transfer window could give Wagner the chance to bring in a goalscorer, so a point against their relegation rivals in the meantime could prove to be valuable. With that in mind, the draw is available at 12/5 for Saturday’s crunch encounter.
Under 2.5 goals at 8/13
Neither of these teams have been prolific this season, with Fulham managing 17 goals in 19 games, and Huddersfield only 12. This game looks set to be a nervy and low-scoring affair.
Fulham to win 1-0 at 23/4
The Cottagers almost pulled off a narrow 1-0 victory over Wolves on Boxing Day, after also keeping a clean sheet in their previous game.
