Fulham v Manchester City Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
March 26, 2019
Craven Cottage - Premier League
Fulham host Manchester City at Craven Cottage on Saturday, as the Premier League returns to our screens following the international break. The visitors will move back to the top of the table with a win, even if it’s only until Liverpool play on Sunday.
City have won their last seven matches against Fulham, scoring 21 goals in the process. The Blues haven’t conceded a goal in the last three meetings. That includes a 3-0 win at the Etihad earlier this season in the league, and a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory in November, also up in Manchester.
Andre Schurrle hasn’t played since Fulham’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United in early February, but the German is expected to return to the fold this weekend. Alfie Mawson and Marcus Bettinelli are both injured though.
Pep Guardiola has a raft of players who are touch and go for this game. John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne, Benjamin Mendy, Nicolas Otamendi and Fabian Delph are all doubts, while Vincent Kompany is out. Fernandinho should make his return from injury though.
Fulham v Manchester City Preview and Predictions
We can try and make a case for Fulham by saying they’ve shown glimpses of improvement under Scott Parker, and have given Chelsea and Liverpool good games under their caretaker boss. However, anything other than a comfortable City victory on Saturday would be a major surprise.
The Blues have been sensational in recent months, winning 19 of their last 20 matches, including their penalty shootout triumph over Chelsea in last month’s Carabao Cup final. They’re banging in the goals, right back in the title mix after catching Liverpool, and looking ever more likely to win what would be a historic quadruple.
Perhaps the only thing that could derail the Citizens this weekend is if their players don’t click straight away following the international break. Considering the intensity with which Guardiola operates, that isn’t likely though.
City are huge odds-on favourites for the win in the betting, priced at 1/6. Despite their home advantage, Fulham are available at 16/1. The Cottagers though have lost their last seven matches, and have been behind at half-time in each of those.
They’re in danger of slipping into bottom place in the league, which is disastrous considering their summer investment. A draw would be a great result for Parker in the circumstances, as he tries to stake a claim for the manager’s job on a full-time basis. The stalemate is 8/1.
City to win to nil at evens
The Blues have already beaten Fulham twice this season without conceding a goal, and are looking for their eighth successive victory over their hosts.
This bet would’ve been a winning selection in this season’s two previous meetings between the sides, and has paid out in favour of Fulham’s opponents in each of their last seven matches.
