Saturday August 5 – Craven Cottage – Championship

Last season’s beaten play-off semi-finalists Fulham host Norwich City as the Championship gets underway this weekend.

Past Meetings

Hosts Fulham have the edge in recent meetings between the two sides, winning four out of their last six meetings in all competitions, compared to just one victory for the Canaries. The most recent meeting was back in April, with Fulham running out as 3-1 winners at Carrow Road.

Team News

Both sides will be looking forward to handing a competitive run out to their summer signings on the season opener.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has again brought in Chelsea pair Tomas Kalas and Lucas Piazon on loan, after the duo played a key role in last season’s march to the play-offs. Former Manchester United youngster Oliver Norwood alos joins on loan from Premier League new boys Brighton, and defender Marcelo Djalo joins on a permanent deal from Lugo.

Norwich also  have a number of new faces for the 2017-18 campaign, with Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed joining on loan.

Young striker Tristan Abrahams joins from Leyton Orient, and Bosnian striker Mario Vrancic comes in from German side SV Darmstadt.

Fulham v Norwich City Preview and Predictions

Fulham have endured a difficult pre-season campaign, without a win  in their last four warm up games, including defeats to London rivals West Ham and Chelsea.

Norwich on the other hand have enjoyed an excellent set of preparation fixtures ahead of the 2017-18 season, going unbeaten in all of their warm up games. This run has included convincing wins over MSV Duisburg, Arminia Bielefeld and Charlton Athletic.

Both sides are expected to challenge for the play-off spots this season, and this early game is unlikely to tell to much about their chances. With that in mind it is likely to be a cagey affair, with both sides settling into competitive action again, and a draw looks likely- priced at 12/5.

Both sides does possess real goal threats so it could be entertaining in an attacking sense, and an over 2.5 goals bet looks to be a good option, priced at 4/5.

Recommended Bets

A 2-2 draw at 12/1

This is a meeting of two of the Championship’s two best sides, and goals are given with the attacking options available to both managers.

Cameron Jerome to score first at 7/1

Former Birmingham City striker Jerome was the main man for Norwich last season, netting 16 league goals, and he looks set to lead the line for them again this season.
