Athens Olympic Stadium - UEFA European Championships Qualifier
Roberto Mancini's Italy travel to Greece for a key UEFA European Championships Qualifier this weekend, with the former Manchester City boss looking to build on his six-game unbeaten streak with the Azzurri.
Greece held Italy to a 1-1 friendly draw in Athens back in 2008, with Luca Toni scoring for the visitors - who won their only other meeting, back in 1934, by a 4-0 score line in Rome.
Mancini has plenty of international experience in his squad, with captain Giorgio Cheillini Leonardo Bonnucci, Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne all included in his 23-man squad, alongside highly rated AS Roma teenager Nicolo Zaniolo.
Greece boss Angelos Anastasiadis has left out veteran players including Orestis Karnezis, Vasilis Torosidis and Alexandros Tziolis, while star striker Kostas Mitroglu is sidelined through injury - Arsenal defender Sokratis is the most experienced player in the squad.
Greece v Italy Preview and Predictions
Anastasiadis, who was appointed half way through Greece's UEFA Euro Nations League campaign has had an inconsistent start to life in charge of the national side - with two wins, two losses and a draw since coming into the role in November 2018.
In UEFA European Championship qualifying they have had a solid start, with a 2-0 win away at minnows Lichtenstein before a dramatic late 2-2 draw away at Bosnia and Herzegovina, after falling 2-0 behind in the first half in Zenica.
The Italians have adapted well to life under Mancini, with three consecutive wins ahead of the trip to Athens, with their last defeat coming back in October 2018, away to Portugal in the UEFA Euro Nations League.
They have won their first two UEFA European Championships Qualifiers, with 2-0 and 6-0 homes victories over Finland and Lichtenstein respectively, leaving them top of Group J, ahead of both Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Italy look to be getting back to the force of old, but Greece are also a stubborn side to beat on home soil and they will not make it easy for Mancini and his players - and a draw might be the best betting option in this one, priced at 21/10.
Italy have really tightened up defensively since Mancini came into the role of head coach, with just one goal conceded in their last six games alongside Greece's low key attacking record of six goals in their last six games - this would is bound to be a low scorer, with an under 2.5 goals bet available at 4/9.
A 1-1 draw at 5/1
Both sides will be confident of securing a top two place in their group, and in turn qualifying for the UEFA European Championships - in what would be Greece's first appearance since 2012. Italy host Bosnia and Herzegovina three days later in Turin, and will not want to be facing them on the back of a defeat.
Fabio Quagliarella to score anytime at 13/10
Veterna striker Quagliarella has been brought back into the international fold by Mancini following a sensational run of form for Sampdoria. The 36-year old has netted ended a nine-year international absence with two goals in the mauling of Lichtenstein, and on the back finishing as Serie A's top scorer for 2018-19, with 26, he will be full of confidence.
