Huddersfield v Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
January 28, 2019
John Smith's Stadium - Premier League
Rock bottom Huddersfield host Marco Silva's Everton on Tuesday night, with the visitors rocked by their FA Cup exit away at Millwall.
Everton drew 1-1 with Huddersfield at Goodison Park in the reverse fixture back in September, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Phillip Billing on target that day.
Silva's side are unbeaten in their three Premier League meetings with the Terriers.
The hosts will be without midfielder Billing, who has a knee injury, as well as long term absentee Danny Williams. Australian international Aaron Mooy and Abdelhamid Sabiri are both back in full training following injury, but they are not yet match fit.
Everton will be without defensive pair Phil Jagielka and Yerry Mina through injury, while Idrissa Gueye serves a one match ban after picking up his fifth Premier League yellow card of the season.
Huddersfield v Everton Predictions and Preview
Huddersfield boss Jan Siewert knows he has an almost impossible task to keep the West Yorkshire side in the Premier League, as they are currently bottom, and ten points adrift of safety. His first game as manager comes against an Everton side that have won just one Premier League game in 2019, however his own side are without a win in any competition since November 2018.
The Blues lost in injury time at the New Den to end their quest for silverware this season, and Silva will need a reaction from his players if they are to break into the top seven in the coming weeks. The Toffees are currently in 11th, three points away from a European finish, and they need to quickly pick up points if they are to avoid to poor end to the season.
Siewert's first game in charge should give the hosts a boost, and with Everton struggling, they might be able to squeeze a point here - with a draw at 12/5.
An in form Everton would win this, but their confidence is low and Siewert will have his players fired up. Do not expect a goal fest here, with the German boss a pragmatist in tactics - and an under 2.5 total goals scored bet at 4/6.
A 1-1 draw at 11/2
The Huddersfield squad will experience a bounce effect with their new boss, and against an Everton side that are starting to feel the pressure, particularly Silva, they may find some joy. Their task of avoiding the drop looks unlikely, but they will want to make a fight of it.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin to score anytime at 21/10
The England U21 international netted against Huddersfield earlier this season, and he is likely to start in this tie. Flanked by Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson, he should get the service to cause problems for a home defence that has looked far from watertight of late.
