Huddersfield v Manchester United Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
February 13, 2018
Kirklees Stadium – Premier League
Huddersfield host Manchester United in the FA Cup, looking to beat the Red Devils at the Kirklees Stadium for the second time this season. Jose Mourinho's beat the Terriers in the league just two weeks ago, and it will be interesting to see if he fields an equally strong side on Saturday.
Having played each other twice in the Premier League this season honours have been shared evenly, with a win apiece. The last match saw United win 2-0 with Alexis Sanchez missing a penalty, although the Chilean did get on the scoresheet eventually.
Adam Mooy, who came off after a clash of knees in Huddersfield's win over Bournemouth is unlikely to play at the weekend, joining long-term absentee Elias Kachunga on the sidelines.
Both Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford missed United's last game, and will be unlikely to feature, with a midweek Champions League clash following the Huddersfield game. Despite returning to training Eric Bailly is unlikely to be match fit for a few more weeks, whilst Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains out with a knee injury.
Huddersfield v Manchester United Preview and Predictions
Coming off the back of their 4-1 win over Bournemouth, Huddersfield will come into the match high on confidence. However, it could be argued that their opponents' defeat to Newcastle may be more of a motivator in the build up to the game, with Mourinho keen to get his side back to winning ways before the return of the Champions League.
Perhaps the biggest factor in how this game finishes will be the XIs that the manager's pick to start the game. David Wagner has a relatively small squad at his disposal, meaning that Huddersfield are unlikely to make many changes from the side that played last weekend. Alex Pritchard, who is 23/4 to score, may make his second start in Huddersfield colours, having opened the scoring on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho, on the other hand, will have one eye on the Champions League match with Sevilla, and will be unwilling to risk his key players in an FA Cup fixture. The likes of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku were rested for United's last cup fixture, with Nemanja Matic another who could do with a break. Given the number of injuries, Mourinho will have a dilemma over whether to tire his first team, or risk fielding the likes of Scott Mctominay and Angel Gomez against Premier League opposition.
Anthony Martial to score first at 7/2
The Frenchman can cover a variety of positions and is probably the most likely forward to get gametime.
Under 2.5 goals scored at 4/5
Huddersfield will play defensively, with United fielding a weakened squad.
