King Power Stadium - Premier League

Leicester City welcome Liverpool back to the East Midlands for the second time in five days, following the Foxes' EFL Cup win on Tuesday night.

Past Meetings

Their victory on Tuesday night, in the EFL Cup third round, continues Leicester's excellent recent record against Jurgen Klopp's team, with three wins in their last for meetings for the 2015-16 Premier League champions.

Although both clubs played something of a second string side in the midweek meeting, Klopp will be concerned that Leicester are becoming something of a bogey team for his players, with their last win in Leicester was way back in 2001- thanks to a Robbie Fowler hat trick.

Team News

Leicester striker Leonardo Ulloa injured his neck in the midweek meeting between these two, and that injury has ruled him out of contention for the Premier League meeting on Saturday.

Fellow attacker missed that game with a groin injury, and he faces a late fitness test on the problem ahead of the weekend game. Defender Christian Fuchs is back in first team training following a freak training ground accident that damaged his eye- although he may not be risked- and Ben Chilwell will continue to deputise.

Midfielder Matt James is also on the road back from recovery from an achilles injury, although he is likely to be short of match fitness for this weekend.

Liverpool will without long term absentees Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne, as they continue their recoveries from thigh and back injuries respectively.

Gigi Wijnaldum has been passed fit after he was withdrawn during their midweek tie with a knock.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Simon Mignolet, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino should all expect a recall to the Liverpool starting line up after being rested in the EFL Cup.

Likewise Kasper Schmeichel, Riyad Mahrez, Shinki Okazaki and Harry Maguire should all return for Craig Shakespeare's side.

Leicester City v Liverpool Preview and Predictions

The midweek win will give Leicester a real boost ahead of Saturday's game, and they will now be fully aware of Liverpool's defensive weaknesses, and will look to exploit them once again.

Leicester have one just once in the Premier League this season, against Brighton, but a draw against Huddersfield and a cup win over Liverpool could get their season up and running again.

The attackers available to Shakespeare, combined with Klopp's defence, make goals an almost certainty in this one- with an over 2.5 goals bet priced at 8/11.

Liverpool need a response after being dumped out of the cup, but defensive they still have too many problems, they will should do better in front of goal this time around- and a draw looks to be a strong option- priced at 13/5.

Recommended Bets

A 2-2 draw priced at 14/1

Both sides have goal threat with the likes of Vardy, Mahrez and Okazaki up against Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge- and although Leicester have a better defensive record this season- they will struggle against Liverpool's pace. Likewise the directness and physicality of Leicester's attack will be a real concern for Liverpool.

Jamie Vardy to score first at 5/1

England international Vardy is the Foxes top scorer so far in 2017-18, with four goals in five Premier League games, a slight injury has made him doubtful for this but it is likely that Shakespeare opted to rest him in midweek- with this game in mind. His ability to create problems through his pace and persistence will cause headaches for a Liverpool back line serious lacking in confidence at the moment.
