Leicester City v Wolves Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
August 07, 2019
King Power Stadium - Premier League
Brendan Rodgers' Leicester City host Wolves in a Midlands derby as the Foxes kick off their 2019-20 Premier League campaign.
Both sides won the home leg of their Premier League meetings in 2018-19, with Wolves winning a 4-3 thriller at Molineux in January, with the Foxes winning 2-0 at home.
Leicester are unbeaten in their last three homes games against the West Midlands side.
Rodgers is hoping to have a full squad to pick from for the opening weekend of the season, with midfielder Papy Mendy aiming to shake off a minor injury picked up during pre-season.
Summer signings Youri Tielmans and Ayoze Perez are both in line to make their debuts, Tielmans as a permanent signing after last season's loan move from AS Monaco.
Wolves forward Raul Jimenez should be able to start after picking up an injury in their Europa League qualifier against Crusaders, however defender Matt Doherty is likely to miss out with a knee injury.
Leicester City v Wolves Preview and Predictions
The Foxes have enjoyed a strong pre-season campaign ahead of the 2019-20 Premier League season, with an unbeaten run of six games for Rodgers' side this summer. The high point of their pre-season came in their final game, with a 2-1 home win against Serie A, side Atalanta with goals from former Newcastle United forward Perez and Jamie Vardy.
Wolves have an advantage over every other Premier League side ahead of the opening weekend of the 2019-20 season, as they are the only side to have played competitive football this summer.
Nuno Santo's side made light work of Northern Irish side Crusaders, with 6-1 aggregate win over two legs in the Europa League Second Round Qualifier - with a Third Round to come, against Armenian side Pyunik Yerevan.
This game is likely to be a tight one, with two sides expected to finish the season close to each other in the league table final standings, and a draw looks a safe option - priced at 11/5.
Both teams have plenty of firepower available, with Wolves scoring 10 in four games and Leicester netting 12 in six games, and with that in mind a BTTS bet is available 10/11.
A 1-1 draw at 11/2
Both teams look set for a positive season, after recruiting smartly over the summer. But opening day games are notoriously hard to call, and a point away from home for Wolves - either side of Europa League games - would be a real boost for Santo's side.
Diogo Jota to score first at 8/1
The Portuguese forward has been in god form during pre-season, with three goals from four appearances, including a goal in the hoe leg against Crusaders. He also has a fine record against Leicester, after netting a hat trick against them last season.
