Leicester v Liverpool Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
August 28, 2018
King Power Stadium - Premier League
Liverpool travel to Leicester in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off, as they bid to continue their flawless start to the new Premier League season. The Reds haven’t conceded a goal yet this term, but the Foxes have looked good themselves and could threaten their visitors’ 100% record.
Seven of the last eight games between these sides have ended in a home win. The exception to that run came last season when Liverpool won 3-2 at the King Power, before completing the double over Leicester with a 2-1 victory at Anfield.
Jamie Vardy serves the second game of his three-match ban following his sending off against Wolves. Matty James and Caglar Soyuncu are the only injury doubts for Claude Puel, who must navigate a League Cup tie on Tuesday night.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to miss the rest of this season with a cruciate injury, while Dejan Lovren is out until after the international break. Youngster Joe Gomez will continue alongside Virgil van Dijk in central defence, with the duo looking impressive together so far.
Leicester v Liverpool Preview and Predictions
It’s very early days, but Liverpool’s fast start has done nothing to dampen the expectations placed on Jurgen Klopp and his team this season. This is their toughest game yet though, as the Reds take on a Leicester side who’ve looked good in the opening weeks of the campaign.
The Foxes put in a strong performance at Manchester United in their first outing of the season, and were unfortunate to lose that game. They’ve bounced back with two wins against Wolves and Southampton, but Liverpool represent a step up in quality for Claude Puel’s side.
The Reds are the favourites in the betting for this game, priced at 1/2. Leicester are 6/1, while the draw’s available at 77/20. How this game pans out could depend on how well Leicester are able to bypass the Liverpool press, as this will dictate their ability to counter.
Even if they find themselves bearing down on Liverpool’s goal, it’s still going to be tough to get past Gomez and Van Dijk, while Alisson is yet to concede a Premier League goal. And Leicester’s task isn’t made any easier by their visitors’ fearsome front three.
Firmino to score first at 11/2
The Brazilian is yet to score so far this season, and he won’t want to fall too far behind his striker partners Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.
Liverpool to win to nil at 18/11
Back the Reds to continue their impressive start with this bet, as they take the three points and record a fourth successive clean sheet.
