Liverpool v Crystal Palace Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
January 15, 2019
Anfield - Premier League
Premier League leaders Liverpool welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield this weekend, looking to extend their lead at the top of the table.
Liverpool won 2-0 at Selhurst Park earlier this season, with James Milner and Sadio Mane getting the goals for Jurgen Klopp's side. The Reds have won their last three games against Palace, with Senegalese international Mane scoring in each game.
Liverpool have Joel Matip back in action for this clash, and Klopp may opt to throw him straight back into the starting XI after Brazilian filled in at centre back against Brighton. Trent Alexander-Arnold is doubtful, meaning Fabinho or James Milner may slot in a right back, with Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez still sidelined.
Palace have no fresh injury news ahead of their trip to the North West, with Papa Soure and Vicente Guaita both still out injured for Roy Hodgson's side.
Liverpool v Crystal Palace Preview and Predictions
Klopp's side returned to winning ways, following back to back losses to rivals Manchester City and an FA Cup exit at the hands of Wolves, with a 1-0 win at Brighton last weekend. That victory means that Liverpool retain a four point lead over Guardiola's City, with their destiny still very much in their own hands as the season enters its second half.
Palace lost 2-1 at home to Watford last weekend, and second loss in their last four Premier League games, following impressive victories over Leicester and Manchester City at the back end of 2018. An in form Palace could cause problems for Liverpool, however, their form has dipped since the start of the year, and the home side should be in line to rack up another three points.
There is little value in a straight Liverpool win, but a home victory with over 2.5 total goals scored is available at 8/15.
Klopp's side have kept a clean sheet in three of their last five Premier League games, and with Palace's inconsistency in mind, Liverpool to win to nil is priced at 10/11.
Liverpool to win 3-0 at 7/1
The Reds were efficient in their win over Brighton, but back on home turf they will be looking to make a statement about their title intentions for 2019. There is still a long way to go, but Liverpool will want to keep their momentum going into February.
Sadio Mane to score anytime at 4/5
The former Southampton man has an excellent record against The Eagles since moving to Anfield, and he is in need of a goal to kick start his 2019 campaign. He has one goal in his last five games and a positive performance here will be a real boos for him.
