Anfield - Premier League
Liverpool will look to put their disappointing performance at Old Trafford behind them when they host Watford at Anfield on Saturday. The Reds are now five points behind second-placed Manchester United in the race to be the best of the rest behind runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City.
Miguel Britos was the last-gasp hero for Watford when the teams met at Vicarage Road in the opening Premier League game of the season. His 93rd minute equaliser rescued a point for the Hornets in a pulsating 3-3 draw. Liverpool won the three games between the sides before that, including a 6-1 drubbing at Anfield last season.
Apart from long term absentee Nathaniel Clyne - who is back on the training pitch after a lengthy spell on the sidelines - Jurgen Klopp has no injuries or suspensions to worry about coming into this game.
It could hardly be much different for the visitors, who could have as many as 10 players out for this tough assignment. Craig Cathcart, Younes Kaboul, Tom Cleverley, Gerard Deulofeu and Nathaniel Chalobah are all among the players set to miss out.
Liverpool v Watford Preview and Predictions
Even more important than finishing runners-up is Liverpool’s bid to make sure they end up in the top four. Chelsea are breathing down their necks again after the weekend’s results, and the Reds can’t afford to slip up against Watford.
Klopp may have had complaints about referring decisions that went against his team at Old Trafford, but it was a rare off day for Liverpool as they fell to defeat. They were off the pace in the first half and couldn’t break United down in the second period, but we can expect an altogether more attacking performance against Watford.
The home side start as heavy 1/5 favourites in the betting, which isn’t worth much unless you add the result as part of an accumulator. The visitors are available at 16/1, as they look to seriously derail Liverpool’s efforts to reach next season’s Champions League.
The Hornets didn’t have much sting at the Emirates last weekend, even missing a penalty in their 3-0 defeat against Arsenal. Javi Gracia has successfully steered his side away from the relegation zone though since taking over at Vicarage Road, with Watford now nine points above the bottom three in 10th. If you think he’ll guide them to another positive result by taking a point from Anfield, you can get odds of 7/1.
Liverpool to win to nil at 20/21
Watford have only managed two goals in their last four games, so this looks like a good way to get some more value out of the home win.
Salah to score and Liverpool to win at 4/6
The Egyptian forward has 32 goals in 39 appearances in his debut season for the Reds, but hasn’t scored in his last two games - he’ll be looking to put that right on Saturday.
