Manchester City v Arsenal Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
November 03, 2017
Etihad Stadium - Premier League
Premier League leaders Manchester City host Arsenal this weekend in a major test of the Gunners' big game resolve this season.
Despite the differing form of the two sides this season, Arsenal do actually have a good recent record against Pep Guardiola's side, losing just once in their last three Premier League meetings against the Blues.
The most recent meeting between the two sides was last season's FA Cup, which saw Arsenal come out on top in a 2-1 win, thanks to Alexis Sanchez's extra time goal.
Arsenal are still without a number of long term injury absentees ahead of the trip north, with defender Shkodran Mustafi and Danny Welbeck with thigh and groin, and neither will be back in action until after the international break.
Arsene Wenger is likely to stick with a three man defence with Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal and Rob Holding - with Hector Bellerin and Saed Kolasinic providing the width from wing back, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez should both return after being rested in midweek against Partizan Belgrade.
Manchester City also have no fresh injury concerns ahead of this game, as Vincent Kompany and Bernard Mendy both remain sidelined with long term issues. David Silva mad a speedier recovery from an ankle injury, and is expected to start for the hosts, alongside Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane.
Manchester City v Arsenal Preview and Predictions
City have swept all before them this season, unbeaten all season - with a draw against Everton the only time they have failed to pick up all three points in the League this season.
The swagger, goals and verve which Guardiola has injected into this side from the word go this season sees them leading the way comfortably ahead of the chasing pack.
In attack, the combination of Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane will give Arsenal real headaches, particularly if they are not structured in the right way in defence.
The primary issue remains for Arsenal in their mentality to play against a rival away from the Emirates - having been soundly beaten by Liverpool at Anfield already this season and if this is again lacking City will show no mercy.
Even if Arsenal do apply themselves correctly, it is still very difficult to see anything other than a City win - currently priced at 4/9.
This game almost guarantees goals, with 17 goals in the last for meetings between the two sides a clear indicator of how Sunday is likely to go - with that in mind an over 2.5 goals bet looks to be a solid choice - priced at 4/11.
Manchester City to win 3-1 at 10/1
Fresh from their win away at Napoli in midweek, City will want to put on a performance in front of their home fans, and with the added bonus of damaging one of their rivals ambitions. The front line for City are likely to have too much for and Arsenal side that has shown real inconsistency at times this season, particularly on the road.
Sergio Aguero to score first at 11/4
The Argentine striker broke the all time Manchester City goal scoring record in midweek, and he is set to be given a roaring reception on Sunday at the Etihad. A confident Aguero will be a menace to Arsenal, and with three goals in his last three appearances against the Gunners he has real pedigree to find the netat the weekend.
