Manchester City v Everton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
December 11, 2018
Etihad Stadium - Premier League
Manchester City’s unbeaten run may be over, but they’re still the heavy favourites to get the victory against Everton this weekend. The Citizens are locked in a battle with their visitors’ neighbours, and need to get back to winning ways straight away.
Everton have only lost one of their last five Premier League matches against City, which came in the most recent meeting between the sides at Goodison Park in March. The Toffees beat City 4-0 the season before last, although we shouldn’t expect a similar result on Saturday.
David Silva is out of this game after injuring his hamstring in City’s defeat at Chelsea last weekend. Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne missed that game and are expected to be out of this one too, along with Benjamin Mendy and Fernandinho.
Idrissa Gana Gueye is the most serious injury worry for the visitors, after he went off late on against Watford on Monday night. James McCarthy is on the road to recovery after his leg break, and could be in contention to feature at some point this weekend.
Manchester City v Everton Preview and Predictions
They’d started to look almost invincible this season, but Chelsea brought Manchester City back down to earth with a bang last weekend. Despite their fabulous start to the season, that was enough to see Liverpool snatch top spot in the table as we approach the busy Christmas schedule.
Everton meanwhile are in seventh after an inconsistent start of their own, and they’ve failed to win any of their last three matches. Lucas Digne’s stunning late free-kick rescued them from a disappointing defeat at home to Watford last time out, and there seems little chance of the Toffees ending their winless run here.
The visitors are 16/1 for the win, while City are priced at 2/9. The Blues were unable to break down Chelsea on Saturday, but they’ll have much more chances against this Everton back line. Despite drawing a blank last time out, City have already hit the back of the net 45 times this season, an incredible figure after only 16 games.
Everton have managed 23 of their own, and with Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson accounting for 14 of those, they certainly have a couple of potent weapons. If you think that might be enough to see the away team snatch a point, you can back the draw at 13/2.
City to win and BTTS at 13/8
Everton may have a couple of danger men, but the hosts should have far too much for them in this game.
Bernardo Silva to score first at 8/1
The Portuguese playmaker could be one of the few guaranteed starters in this City side due to the current injury situation.
