Manchester City v Huddersfield Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
May 02, 2018
Etihad Stadium - Premier League
Premier League champions Manchester City host Huddersfield this weekend, with the visitors sliding closer and closer to the drop zone.
City won 2-1 at the John Smith's Stadium earlier in 2017-18, with Raheem Sterling scoring the late winner. Huddersfield last beat City back in 1999, when they were both in the Old Football Division One, with Chris Beech on target with the goal.
Huddersfield will give a late fitness test to midfielder Tom Ince, who is struggling with a hamstring problem, ahead of this game. However Elias Kachunga, Danny Williams and Michael Hefele are all ruled out for the remainder of the season.
City will be without defensive duo Kyle Walker and John Stones through injury, although they are likely to play against this season. However Argentinian international Sergio Aguero is unlikely to feature again in 2017-18 after undergoing minor knee surgery last week.
Manchester City v Huddersfield Preview and Predictions
City have swept all before them in the Premier League this season, sealing the title with five games to spare.
They need three more points to beat Chelsea's record of 95 points in 2004-05, they need one more win to beat their joint record of 30 from last season (with Chelsea 2016-17) and they need two more goals to beat Chelsea'2009-10 of 103 goals.
Pep Guardiola will have them fired up to achieve all of these before the season's end, and they should win comfortably against a Huddersfield side that has one just once in their last seven games, priced at 1/10.
Given their free scoring form in 2017-18, if you are looking for some increased value, a City win with over 2.5 total goals scored in the game, that is an option at 4/11.
City to win 3-0 at
Guardiola has overseen an incredible season at City, but he will want to seal a few more records before it reaches its conclusion in May. With that in mind, his side will show little mercy to a Huddersfield side that is still very much in danger of relegation from the top flight.
Gabriel Jesus to score first at 14/5
Brazilian striker Jesus has stepped in as the main attacker in the absence of Aguero, scoring four goals in his last four appearances for City. He has struggled with injuries this season, but he has still netted 12 Premier League goals in 2017-18.
