Manchester City v Southampton Predictions, Betting Tips and Previews
November 28, 2017
Etihad Stadium - Premier League
Manchester City host Southampton at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, with Pep Guardiola's side looking to extend their lead at the top of the table.
Past Meetings
Manchester City have a good record in this fixture, winning four out of the last six Premier League meetings, with one draw and one Southampton win. Southampton's last point at Manchester City came back in 2004 at Maine Road, and their last win there was in 1992.
Team News
Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino has no new injury worries ahead of the trip to the north west. Young midfielder Matt Targett is the only first team absentee, as he recovers from a long term injury.
Likewise Guaridola has no new injuries to contend with, with defensive pair John Stones and Bernard Mendy both unlikely to feature again until the new year through injury.
Manchester City v Southampton Preview and Predictions
Manchester City have been in sensational form so far this season, only to score just once against Wolves and only dropping points in a draw against Everton at the start of the season.
Guardiola's side are huge favourites to win the Premier League, and Wednesday's clash against an improving Southampton should be fairly routine for the league leaders, with a home win priced at 2/11.
Southampton recovered from their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool a fortnight ago, to comfortably beat Everton 4-1 at the weekend, but this should be a step too far for them.
The attacking threat of City, particularly at home, has been a huge part of their form this season, and if they are in the mood there should be plenty of goals in this game. An over 2.5 goals bet is priced at 2/5.
Recommended Bets
Manchester City to win 3-0 at 7/1
City are on a roll at the moment and it will take some stopping them this season as Guardiola looks to secure his first league title in England. The Saints have shown flashes of what Pellegrino wants from them in recent weeks, but the power of City's attack should stretch them past their limit.
Sergio Aguero to score first at 9/4
Argentina international Aguero is City's leading Premier League goalscorer this season with nine goals. His pace in behind and ability to unsettle defenders will pose a huge task for an occasionally ponderous Saints backline.
